Farscape "Care Package" for American Military Personnel

I just wanted to share news on a Farscape "Care Package" we are putting together for the American Troops who took part in the 5th of Farscape Rally.

This is a wonderful idea and has already had a lot of people wanting to donate.

If anything, take some time to send a little note to the men and women over there. Let them know we appreciate them!

As GeekedOut mentioned, contributing to the package isn't exclusively monetary.

There is a 'Con Book' being put together, the more notes and well wishes the better! :)

What do our troops do when they aren't hunting down fanatics in remote hostile countrys? They play roleplaying games of course!! Did you see the dice and battle mat on the table of the picture they sent??

I think we should send them a couple of Farscape RPG books. What do you guys think?

It's a $40 book, but I bet they would be in 7th heaven playing the Farscape RPG.

I was so pleased to see the defenders of this great nation playing Dungeons & Dragons. :aok:

We're still planning to send the package out early November (waiting for the release of the S1 FS dvd set).

We are still looking for more 'con book' entries (well wishes, notes, poems, anything!), drop them a note and make sure they know how many scapers heard about their rally and appreciate their efforts! (Info on how to do this in link above)

I just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who's contributed in anyway to the care package so far.

But please remember that you even if you can't, or don't wish to contribute anything financially, you can STILL contribute. Please consider sending along a brief message for their "con book" (Scrapbook).

It will only take a few minutes, and doesn't cost a cent. But it will brighten the day of several Scapers far away from home.

I knew that Farscape and its fans were unique, but the outpouring of support from scapers worldwide took me by storm and their generosity has both shocked and amazed me. I am proud to be doing my small part to help Save Farscape, but infinitely prouder still to know that I belong to such an extraordinary group of kind people. I know this will live on in my memories as a time when strangers viewing a television show united to become a passionate, open-hearted group dedicated to one another and a common love.

A BIG thank you to those who have organized and contributed in any way to this care package and many thanks for all the kind wishes and thoughts passed along.

Every man has a chance to be his own kind of hero. For all our heros overseas and those closer to home a very heartfelt thank you.

1st Package - Send 11/4
2nd Package - Send 2 weeks later

Update: New plan... Thanks to ADV Films ( http://www.advfilms.com/ ), we will be receiving TWENTY COMPLIMENTARY copies of Farscape DVDs for the 1st care package!!!

This of course means we have those DVD funds for more items now. Therefore, we will send off the items collected as of 11/4. That leaves time to plan out and order items with the extra funds for the 2nd mailing approx 2 weeks later. That way I can also get more autographs for them in United Con Nov 9 & 10 (Gigi and Anthony will be there!). I've also received information from the cousin of the rally coordinator, and she informed me they will be there until at least January, so the 2nd package will be a nice pre-holiday surprise!

Therefore if there is something you wanted to include but thought time had run out, there is a bit of extra time now. :)

For all those kind-hearted scapers out there you are about to hear a resounding "Hell Yeah!" as the Care Package for the troops is opened. I got this email from my cousin today. Hopefully I'll receive the pictures soon so we can all enjoy their amazement. :eek:

Sorry about the spelling in the email but I didn't want to change anything. my cousin recently had a nasty encounter with a spider so he may still be a bit out of it. Of course I'm attribuiting it to the shock of seeing the package! :D

just a quick note i recive the first Farscape package and I will say i was speechless. I took a small peek and i was frelling amazed... We are having a farscape opening party tonight and don't worry we will be taking Many pic with the camrea they sent and with a nifty digtal camrea.. Then tomarrow Wed the 20th we are having a Farscape marathon and letter writing night..I will e-mail you as well as the people who did this for us the pics and tell them i have already got people sign a relese form so i mail that as soon as possible. Which hopful be before friday when i go to kandhar.. Liz i don't know what we did to deserve this and i want you to thank you for making me a part of this... And like cricton (sorry about the spelling) we are waiting for a way home--which i hope farscape finds one.. I e-mail you soon with detels,,

I think this was a great idea, and I'm glad it worked out so well. Kudos. :D

But what I'm most pleased with was the detailed accounting you've given. The itemized list is great and will (I think) lend additional crediblity to the fan fundraising.

NOTE: This is not ment to be a critizism of any of the other funds. But this is the most detailed and prompt accounting that I've seen for any of the funds to date, and I just want'ed to say, "Good on you!"

Thanks Truemyth, since I was trusted with other people's hard earned money, I knew I owed them good book keeping and reporting (not a dig on any other funds of course).

And I'm honored in being allowed to be part of this care package. Everyone sent so many great items (many of which I was very jealous about! :) ), Scapers amaze me!

Now, waiting impatiently for the opening party pictures. :thud:

Just received this from my cousin.


Thank you again for all you have done for us.. We will be opening the 2nd package on sunday 8th when i can get everyone together.. Quick note we did share our goodies from the 1st package with the aussies before they left for kuwait than home.. You are frelling wonderful....And you have my undying thanks for the joy you brought here... I send you some dit. pic hopful by the day after the opening...

i sorry this took so long for me to send these pics to you. This openning was a smaller gathering but those got a chance to enjoy the stuff. the reason for the gathering was due to work concerns and gettinng everyone together. And we did get a chance to share with the aussie before they left.. as for us we should be leaving sometime in the next4 weeks , i hope . so thank you and the fellow scapers again from the bottom of my heart. You realy improved our moral and made the hoildays bareable :) we also found new fans and we will keep working to do whatever we can for our cause. as i writing this i just heard of the columbia was lost, and i not sure what to think but just to pray.
