Hi all!
Philcon, the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society's annual Science Fiction convention, is being held on December 13-15, 2002. This might be a good opportunity for the Save Farscape campaign to get the word out in Philadelphia.
Unfortunately I don't know if I will be able to get anything done all by myself...are there any NJ or Philly area scapers who'd be interested in helping me out? I figure we could possibly get a fan table for flyers and whatnot or perhaps even get some kind of Save Farscape panel going.
I could probably contact Philcon to see about getting a table (I think we'd have to pay for it) but as far as a panel I'm not quite sure what to do for it. Any ideas would be welcomed!

The DC Area Scapers would love to come up and help out at Philcon and get to know some of the Philly area Scapers (do you have an actual group yet?). We'd also like to build some ties to any other organized groups in the area, and Philly is the most logical place to start.
If anyone is heading this up or interested, please email me at dcscapers@yahoo.com.

there is supposed to be a Farscape panel at philcon. I will try to get on it and talk about the campaign. I'm sure Keith DeCandido will go for it as well. I am sure saving Farscape will come up.

gwebber, if you're really anxious to help, please drop a note to kodiakkemax@yahoo.com. She's the Savefarscape.com coordinator for a SaveFarscape presence at a bunch of the regional cons.
Thanks for offering to help.

Hi Doc,
If you're looking for panelists, I'd be more than happy to help out. I also think it'd be great to get whatever DC Scapers who are willing to make the trek involved too - even if just to prove the point that FS is worth the trip :)
If you just need flyers, etc. I could probably help out with that too. I also think pursuing a table is a good idea, but I'm a little daunted by the price, if we have to pay the vendor rate.
Still cogitating,
Gloria

Well, I expended all the "pull" I had by getting myself put on the panel. I'm not on the programming committee, fortunately for my sanity. I get my street cred for the panel from the fact that I am a scholar who has written about science fiction television and fandom.
I'm thinking, though, that lots of good people wiill be there and what we need is a good audience to show their enthusiasm for the show.
