View Full Version : L.A scapers please help
Friend and I are going to be at the Burbank con and we need some advice regarding the best area in L.A to stay.
We'll stay for a couple of days and are looking for a hotel right now only that we have no clue *where* exactly is the best area to look. L.A. is sooo huge and we don't wanna end up in some scruffy little area far from everything and dangerous on top of it ?
Any advice ? We'd be very grateful :)

The thing is, SoCal and its various attractions *are* spread out all over. The best thing to do would be to book accomodations at or near the convention hotel. Then get yourselves a rental car and a Thomas Guide, so you can drive wherever you want. Don't depend on public transportation for sight-seeing here. If you need to travel more than a few blocks from wherever you're staying, it'll never get you there in less than an age.
So, con hotel & rental car...best bet. :aok:
Hope that's helpful. :)
Thanks Alikhat :)
I really appreciate your help. So Burbank and a rental car it is :D
Hey Elle {{{{hugs}}}}}
Like Alikhat says, LA and southern California are huge, so tell us what sites you want to see, and we'll tell you the best places to stay after the convention is done :D
Hi Jul !:hi:
Well, personally I only want to really see the Observatory and Jim Morrison house :lol
My friend has ome places but I have no idea if they are even remotely in the same area:
San Fernando Valley
Griffith Observatory
Rodeo Drive
Melrose Ave
Watts Towers
Santa Monica Beach
But if there is anything else we should see let me know :D
Did I mention we only have 2 days ? :lol

Hiya Elle,
Burbank (and the Con) are in the San Fernando Valley, but generally speaking that's a huge area in of itself (lots of the film-studios are there, like Universal and WB)
I'm afraid Griffith Observatory will be closed :( They closed for 3 (THREE) years beginning of this year. I'm not even sure if the parking lot is still open, because the sunsets from up there are spectecular :)
Melrose is LONG :D But it's on the LA-site of the Santa Monica Mountains (as opposed to the Valley), as is Rodeo Dr (although they're at least 20 min drive from each other). Melrose is also fairly close to Hollywood Blvd (where the Walk of Fame is and the Chinese Theater, which you'll probably wanna see, too).
Santa Monica and Venice are both beach communities on the very West-site of LA (and both independent cities well, at least Santa Monica I'm sure about). And they're around 20 minutes drive from Rodeo Dr in the other direction from Melrose.
If you want something fairly safe, with shopping and stuff you can walk to, Santa Monica might be a good choice :) Closer to Hollywood, the world gets a bit more shady, lots of nightlife, but also everything that comes with it :D
My $0.02 :D I'm handing back to Alikhat and Jul :D
Love and Peace and Great Vacation Fun :)
Tiriel
Thanks Tiriel !
To bad the observatory is closed. It's really the one thing I wanted to see :( Oh well, I guess that means I have to come back in 3 years....;)
