I made these to rotate on my animation site... nothing fancy, but I thought I'd post them since they're a good size for sigs.

OMIGOD, I *love* the "He's Human. She's not. And you thought Romeo and Juliet had problems." slogan! :lol

Can I use it in my sig? Do I have to have my own website to link it to before using it? (I know nothing of avatars and .gifs)

hey, if you like that you should check out the Save Farscape Canada (http://www.savefarscapecanada.com) site. We've been using that slogan on our flyers. If there's an interest, I can do a US edition of that flyer.

Well, it helps if you have a website because it provides a virtual space where the image file can be stored... you can link to it directly off someone else's website however it's generally considered a bit of a faux pas because it leeches bandwidth from that site... I'm nice though and I don't really care :D ... but just so you know, under normal net-etiquette circumstances, don't direct-link to images on other people's sites. bad, bad, bad. :ewink:

I'm at work right now, but when I get home I'll be making up a page for the SFCanada site... I'll let you know how to add them to your sig then.

That would be wonderful, etana! I don't have a website of my own, so nowhere to store the .gif.

Checked the Canadian site -- great job to the designer. It's a great site for newbies as well as those involved in the campaign.

Those interested in begging / borrowing / stealing / etc. any of the above banners for whatever purpose you are more than welcome to do so. :D

All of them are now (finally) linked up on the Save Farscape Canada (http://www.savefarscapecanada.com) site and can be found through the Flyers & Graphics page. There will likely be more in the same vein when the procrastination urge hits once again.

*curtsey* most kind. :D

anyhoo, you shouldn't have any trouble with the banners now. The URL that you use to hook them up to your signature is right under each banner on the pages on our site.

Wooo!

doesn't Etana entirely rock?

She's the SaveFarscapeCanada designer, webmistress, general photoshop support and all around stalwart. :aok:

We literally couldn't do anything without her.

*Hee*

Love these banners. Gotta go find somewhere to post with 'em

***blush*** ... umm, thanks. :)
And I have to say too, I've gotten better feedback on the work I've done for SFC than pretty much anything else I've done previously... and I love the look of the SFC site, just really happy with it... hehe, if I could make a living doing all this stuff, I think I'd be set for life. :D

etana,

It's all good... 'cept I can't figure how to get it on my siggy. Not lazy. Just didn't see the conclusion in the help file :cry2:

oh it's easy...

1) Go to Save Farscape Canada (http://www.savefarscapecanada.com), and stop by the Flyers & Graphics page.

2) Pick which banner you'd like to use and copy the URL from underneath (select the text and Ctrl+C)

3) Come back here, go to User CP and then Edit Profile

4) Then enter the following into the signature box:

where the 'InsertImageURLHere' is the address that you pulled from the Save Farscape Canada site. (Ctrl+V to paste from the text after you've copied it off SFC)

5) Save, exit, etc. and... voila! You have a banner in your signature. That code should work on most of the boards around the Farscape communities--at least where you are allowed to have built in sigs... if anyone comes across difficulties though, just let me know.

Oh, and that version of the code is setup to link to the Watch Farscape website although you can easily change that to link up with whatever site you want--even Save Farscape Canada if you want to tell people where you found the banners. ;)

hope that helps.

those web banners kick ass.

Here's an idea for one if you feel like making it.

A picture of Scorpius

"Ruthless... vicious... ambitious...

Hero... or villian? You decide.

Farscape"

or is that too long?

I just snurched some banners on your site. I had seen them before and thought they were great. I'm glad I found their origin. Beautiful job, Etana, and the site isn't bad either. :D

* What was that? Want non-copyrighted images in your banner ads? Well, ask and ye shall recieve.
* 28 banner ads, each under 7KB.
* 468 x 60
* horizontal; static images

I was made aware something - my love for manipulating stock photography is a bad habit. What else is there to do if you don't have access to a big extensive stock of royality free images? You make up some comical characters in Illustrator and make some banner ads. Easy. Only problem, I made a ton of banners. Only took me two hours to make the illustrations and another hour to make the banners.

Enjoy.

Mark

Mark - is it possible some of these banners could be changed to advertise the new episodes instead of the Chain Reaction? Specifically, I'm interested in the character ones with the quotes on them. We're coming up awfully close to the Chain Reaction and there may not be enough time to get these out in the Boston area with that date on them.

I can't view those banner ads now. All I see is a box with an 'x' now.

Does anyone think they can help me out with this?

Also, are there any other banner ads out there that I could possibly use that promote the show being on Fridays?

Thanks,
VoY

Voy,

I noticed that.

Early on in the campaign I attempted to save it all.

I guess you know to please save them to your own site before linking.

I saved Etana’s moving gif banners on The DarkSide of John Crichton:

http://groups.msn.com/TheDarkSideofJohnCrichton/savefarscape.msnw?Page=6

http://groups.msn.com/TheDarkSideofJohnCrichton/savefarscape.msnw?Page=7

They are named: Etana's mov slogan Banners and farscape_anm1 thru farscape_anm7

I also have them stored on FreeScape:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FreeScape/

in Photo Albums > Email R Us > Chiana thru Royal Daughter.

AHHhh... okay, it took me a minute to figure out what people were talking about.

When I originally posted the banners I mentioned that they were made for my animation site, Keyframe, and when I posted them here, I posted them with the images linking back to Keyframe.

Keyframe is currently down for extensive renovation, so I took all the banners off the site... actually I took everything off the site, while I muck around with PHP and bash my head against database design...

ANYWAYS, they haven't gone away and can be found where I've always suggested that you find them... on Save Farscape Canada (http://www.savefarscapecanada.com)... although I certainly thank you for providing an alternate download location.

hehe... oh I know...
I know...

At my school there's a student lounge with big comfy couches... every morning when I come to school each couch, chair and sometimes even patches of floor in the lounge is occupied by sleeping students... I do not take this as a sign of a easy, relaxing semester ahead. ;)

Not enough hours in the world to make the animations.
Ironically animation is what I do with my days (http://athena.zed.cbc.ca/)--or at least what I'm studying at school... these little web banners are easy compared to kind of animation I'm use to spending time on... the type that involves lightables, paper and pencils.

If you can get your hands on a copy of Macromedia Fireworks, it has a very easy animated gif maker built into the program... all my banners are basically three or four frames with just the text bouncing around a bit.

I don't care either way, but the instructions I posted earlier linking them back to Save Farscape Canada (http://www.savefarscapecanada.com) are designed to make them accessible to any website forum... and while linked through the SFCanada site I can track where they're being used--which presently includes here, Kansas, a bunch of other Farscape boards and non-Farscape boards.

I really like these. Will have to try and put them in my sig as well.
The avatar worked. Will have to try a new one later.
Lets see if the signature banner works.

Thanks for making these banners. I like the Canada site.
