You know.. those slides that go on indefinitely while you wait before your movie starts... Jadeshand posted the idea up in the graphics forum.

if any local groups are, here's some information that I pulled up on Regal Cinemas - which own UA cinemas, Edwards cinemas, and Regal Cinemas - and AMC Theatres. According to their websites, if anybody wants to do this before the last half of season 4 begins airing, you're going to have to move now...

For the AMC Theatres, they use NCN for their advertising stuff.. the url is http://www.ncninc.com/ and you can get specs http://www.ncnads.com/www/html/specsslide.html and other information there. The slides are on a weekly basis and they run Friday to Thursday. The number to contact them is 1-800-SCREEN-1 and individuals that have AMC Moviewatcher cards get some kind of discount.

For the Regal Cinemas, they have their own media people that can be reached at 800-828-2828. The address to get information is http://www.regalcinemedia.com. The information seems to state that the slides run monthly.

These would probably be great ads to run at the megaplexes between Christmas and January 9th (the day before Farscape starts airing again)

Also, it may be possible, if anybody is willing to write up a proposal for the FWA that different local groups may have their ads subsidized. Keep that in mind...

I'm interested. Hope I have enough time to do something with it.

Cinemark in Cleveland uses Val Morgan for advertising.

Their website is www.screenvision.com They have sales regions based in LA, San Francisco, New York, Chicago and Detroit (I'm in the Detroit Region).

I'll try to do a little digging on this.

Edited to add:

Here's the thread in the Graphics Section - they've been working on the artwork for sometime. All we need to do is the logistics and proposals. :)

great.... :aok:

AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas own most of the cineplexes in Southern California. Jadeshand is doing some digging of her own :aok:

I'm waiting on specs and a quote from ValMorgan. But here's some info:

They sell in 4 week flights. The standard is to show up to 3 times in a preshow rotation. I haven't asked about the alternatives.

The next flight is 12/27 - 1/23 which would be ideal, but the material deadline was 11/27 and she could extend it, but we'd have to be really quick. I'm not sure we can move that fast. She's sending me the specs.

The flight after that is 1/24 - 2/20

She also had an alternative that was 1/10 - 2/6 - That might be attractive - it starts the day the show appears for the first time.

I'm waiting for the bad news on how much its gonna cost. Just thought I'd troll for input on the dates.

Thanks,
Akimbo

I'd think the sooner the better. If we wait until the 24th of January we've missed the opportunity to get viewers for the critical first 3 weeks.

Here are the specs from ValMorgan. I'm going to post these in the graphics thread as well.

I am still waiting to hear if we can make it in time for the 12/27 flight. If we still have time to get in, I will most likely need to have a contract signed and slide material yet this week! Which I'm still thinking is too fast for us. Otherwise we'll be going for the 1/10 - 2/6 Flight.

The artwork must be provided in 2 different specifications, as follows (they have 2 different fullfillment houses):

1.Pro Motion Slides specs
Live Area (area which actual ad will be): 6 in by 3.25 in
Background (border): 6 in by 4 in
Resolution: 300 dpi
Program: Adobe Photoshop
Unflattened Photoshop .PSD file preferable, Flattened JPEG or TIFF acceptable
Preferred method of delivery is by disk (100 mb ZipDisk). Email is acceptable

2.Val Morgan specs
You can supply files created from the following programs: Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. All elements (such as logos or pictures) need to be saved separately.

Photoshop Users: Ensure files are saved as Photoshop 5.0 documents with layers in RGB mode, not CMYK, Black and White artwork should be saved as GRAYSCALE not BITMAP. The dimensions for our files is 1014 pixels wide by 676 pixels high. This is the entire picture area, the safe area is 864 pixels wide by 398 pixels high. The resolution is 300 pixels per inch.

Illustrator Users: Files can be saved as Illustrator 8 documents. If your type is not outlined please supply any fonts used.

File Compression: The only compressed files we can accept are Photoshop saved as JPEG at maximum quality.

Disk Types: You can supply documents on floppy disk, Zip disk, or CD. We cannot accept Quark documents for use in an artwork. You can supply a Quark document as a visual guide.

More as I get it.

Is this being implemented into a regional marketing strategy or just whoever wants to?

You guys seem to be doing a lot of work looking up information.
Plus the work that's being done on the graphics for this slide. It would be nice if a coordinated effort occurred that each of the main targeting areas could organize a joint effort.

Buying advertisement is probably expensive but donation money for targeting movie theaters adds as a joint Save Farscape move would be another media first? Just like the t.v. adds. Wouldn't have to do it everywhere but hit a major city in a few key areas.

I was just curious if that is what is being done? It definately would be seen. Never saw or heard anything about the t.v commericals except on this site.

It's an excellant opportunity. Instead of just the add.

What cities is this being done for?
Do we have to make our own slides/ have them made?
Do you give these slides to local theaters or to the main company and they distribute them? How many places could we target and for how much?
Could we donate money to this (joint effort) like what was done with the cookbooks etc?
