View Full Version : Guerrilla Radio Network -- Sponsor a Scaper-to-be!

The Guerrilla Radio Project is a series of radio promotions that will run the week of January 6-10th:

*In the top 20 Nielsen markets

*With Farscape prize giveaways, and radio commercials telling people that new episodes of Farscape will premiere that Friday.

We're working to remind casual fans that the show is on and also generate interest in non-fans as well.

We have professional radio people, as well as TechScaper from The Gammak Bass, donating their talent for the commercials. We've already received donations from corporate sponsors such as Toy Vault and Rittenhouse and from individual fans (thank you so much!).

We're still working the corporate donation angle, but we would like to give away as much Cool Stuff as humanly possible to knock people's socks off.

We're looking for Farscape tapes, DVDs, books, action figures, keychains, anything new in the package that you might want to send along to beef up our prize packages and generate excitement. Imagine yourself putting a DVD into the hands of a potential Scaper, somewhere out there, in a large Nielsen market like New York, or LA.

If you are interested in turning on Scapers in Nielsen markets across the United States, please email me at feldman@twmi.rr.com for details on how you can help sponsor the Guerrilla Radio Project.

On a side note, we're also looking for someone willing to burn about 20-25 CDs.

Kitfoxer,

Thank you! Once the commercials are done, we'll need to burn them on about 25 CDs to send to the radio stations by the end of December.

I wasn't able to email you through the board, but I'd like to talk to you, so please drop me a line at feldman@twmi.rr.com

Should Santa bring me the Season 1 box set for Christmas, I can donate DVD volumes 1-4....I will try and find out what Santa is planning on so I can decide early. Also, what are the 20 markets/cities?

Aren't the prize packs being coordinated as far as contents? Or will each pack be made up of different stuff? Or am I just misunderstanding the whole deal?

Has anyone tried ADV for DVDs? I know it's probably a long shot, but it's well worth the try!

feldman

We have negotiated a deep discount for tapes and DVDs from ADV, and these episodes will form the basis for our prizepacks.

We've gotten mixed success so far getting donations from our other corporate contacts. We're up for taking anything that people are willing to give that might turn someone on to Farscape. We're looking specifically for copies of books like "House of Cards", the Season Companions, action figures and CDs.

We'll be separating all donations into prizepacks to send out to the radio stations in the last week of December.

We're targeting about 23 stations, and giving away 10 prizepacks per station. We have a budget and a prize-plan that hits each winner with a Farscape tape or DVD, but we'd like to beef it up into more of a package for each winner.

All donations must be received by Christmas so that they can be sorted, packed and sent to the radio stations by the end of December.

Please contact me at feldman@twmi.rr.com if you are interested in donating.

A key demographic for the networks (SCI-FI, UPN, etc...) is the 18-29 age group. Heavily college age.

Farscape is the perfect program to appeal to this demo, especially with a Friday night 8PM time slot (right before they all head out to the local night club or frat party).

One way to stretch the funds is to advertise on college radio stations in key geographic markets at the times when these stations get their peak listening audience. Much cheaper that mainstream radio, which might cast too wide a net for too broad an audience.

Cool Boston radio! I get a few Boston stations here in RI, one that I listen to regularly. The morning show guys had "Nerd-Off" yesterday that was so funny. They had a buch of Trekkies in the studio doing Star Trek trivia to win tickets to the new movie.

Anyway, Santa isn't giving up any info yet. What's the latest I could send my DVDs?

Hey Feldman!
I've just emailed you a couple of times, but then I read this thread and it sounds like you still need action figures. I thought you'd gotten all of those you needed from Toy Vault. I can definately send you 2 or 3 series 2 Aeryn figures, if you want them. Also, I have a bunch of the Farscape buttons that SciFi was giving away before S2, with Zhaan on them. Could you use those as well? I emailed you that I have a couple of the FS cd-rom's (the one with the neat screensaver) and a set of Farscape in Motion cards - all new in package, if you want those. Just let me know where to send them.

Feldman & Crew,

I'm stoked to hear the GRN is coming on strong and I want to be tuned in to catch these radio spots. I know you have a list of the top 20 markets (I'm in #5) but do you have any idea which stations will get the spots to air? There's a frelling load of stations in the San Francisco area!

I seem to be getting a lot of Amazon gift certificates from students and parents as holiday gifts, and thought they could be put to good use here. Feldman, just let me know what would be most needed (DVD's, videos, books, toys, whatnot); and I'll place an order and have the stuff shipped wherever you want it to go.

Trubador: The college radio idea is an excellent one. What we're aiming for with Guerrilla Radio is as much exposure to Nielsen homes as possible for each hard-earned prize-dollar. This in no way precludes anyone from duplicating Guerrilla Radio promotions on a local or college level. We have plans to write up a how-to and make the radio commercials available as soon as possible (safe to say after the holidays, though).

Alex: The deadline for donating merchandise to Guerrilla Radio is December 25th, so I can get everything sorted, packed and shipped to the stations by the end of December. Email me at feldman@twmi.rr.com for the shipping address :aok:

DJ_Qax: A list of stations is coming soon!

XenaJules2: Thank you so much! Our donation from Toy Vault contained no action figures, alas. They've been very generous with the online auctions and I definitely understand their decision to support one main project. Heck, that's what I'm doing myself :spin:

Teach: Thank you so much! I just sent you an email, let me know if you have any questions or concerns or need anything from me.

Cofax rocks. That's all there is to it. http://scorpius.150m.com/master/smilie/luxlove.gif

If you need to BUY action figures from Toy Vault, I can get them for you wholesale. However, they have NO series 1 at all and are getting low on series 2 (which is probably why they didn't donate any.) They are getting ready for the release of "Reunion" and so aren't having more of the old ones made.

Also - VERY important! Their turn-around time for wholesale orders is VERY slow - minimum of two weeks and that's with me bugging them regularly, so if you decide to order some, LET ME KNOW SOON!

Unfotunately my Santa isn't talking. I even tried to ask in a different fashion like, "So. After Christmas, will I be needing DVD volumes 1-4? Because if not, I really need to know now so I can donate them to a good cause."

:( Sorry guys. I won't be able to get them out in time. Unless you will still accept them on 12/31.
