I wanted to ‘hide’ this letter here so that it won’t get in the way of business.
That said, I‘m using this forum to say ‘thank you’ to all the Scapers out there. I’ve been reading through the different posts looking for quotes for the Farscape quilt. There were names I’d never seen before and names that I’ve gotten to know quite well since I joined Save Farscape.
Do you realize how amazing you are? The experiences *you* have shared with all of us, the stories you’ve told, the support you’ve given Farscape and your continued devotion are tremendous. Your posts made me laugh, brought tears to my eyes, and finally, made me proud to be a part of the Farscape Fandom. Some have fallen away from the fight, true, but new ones come every day. There are Scapers active in the campaign who never post and those (me) who post too often for their own good LOL.
Do not feel guilty if you get too tired to keep going. Don’t feel guilty for fighting for ‘just a television show.’ Remember what DZ_Crasher’s mother said: ‘Life isn’t always easy. Everyone needs to have somewhere to escape to, and if someone takes that away from you, there is no shame in fighting to get it back.’
Remember the moment you lost your heart to ‘Farscape.’ For me, it was a moment in ‘Season of Death’, the moment when John stroked Aeryn’s hair, touched her for the first time since she was brought back from death.
Hold *your* moment close to you. Don’t ever forget it. Remember what it is they are trying to take away from you, from all of us. Keep in mind what Scaper Laura Williams said: ‘Through the years, Farscape has shown me heart, the courage to fight back when it seems impossible. And to rely on your friends when all else is gone. I have never seen another show that could teach you a lesson in life, yet Farscape does.’
Don’t worry about what other people think. At the same time you’re wondering what they’re thinking of you, they are wondering what you think of THEM. Be proud to be known as a Scaper. Wear your T-shirts, buttons, hats; pass out your flyers, business cards, bookmarks. Volunteer! It really is more fun than it sounds!
Couple things: I have never really been a ‘part’ of anything. Eventually, I became very committed to being UNcommitted. Then came Farscape, and all the lovely Scapers with it. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being exactly who you are! You’ve inspired me to stand up and be counted among the greatest Fandom EVER.
This particular Scaper hereby promises to never give up, to be the last man standing, come hell or high water, come troll or SCI FI exec. I’ll never stop being a button-wearing, card-carrying, letter-writing member of this ’little Fandom that could.’
Hello to whomever made it to the end of this post, and I’ll see ((((((y’all)))))) later.
(:hi: Scorpius!! “Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that if the Farscape Fandom last for a thousand years, men will still say, ‘This was their finest hour.’ ”)
