Part of the marketing plan has always been to provide co-op funding for those who want to place advertisements in newspapers and other publications to attract new viewers. The FWA is able to make this co-op funding available now.
Co-op Criteria
We will make funding available to groups who want to place ads in publications in the top 20 Nielsen markets, plus cities that aired the commercial
NYC
LA
Chicago
Philly
SanFran
Boston
Dallas
Washinton DC
Atlanta
Detroit
Houston
Seattle
Tampa/St. Pete
Minneapolis/St. Paul
Cleveland
Phoenix
Miami/Ft. Lauderdale
Denver
Sacramento
Orlando
Pittsburgh
Salt Lake City
San Diego

and
To established groups/funds wanting to place ads in National papers (like CBOOL).
We will pay 50% of the total cost of the ads, not to exceed $500 of that total cost. The total budget allocated for newspaper ad coop is $2000, so please get approval in advance to be sure that there is enough money to co-op your groups advertisement.
We encourage:
Smaller ad once a week for 3 weeks or more running on Thursdays or Fridays. Run either right before chain reaction and couple of weeks before new eps or couple of weeks right before and into new eps.
Advertise watching the show, not saving it. Show links for more information.
Run in entertainment section of paper on right hand page close to outside edge.

Email me if it doesn't work.

Hi Denaba,
Thanks for your e-mail this morning about the Co-opting for the movie ads here in San Francisco. I've been in contact with Chris Larsen, the one handling the ads down in San Jose so we can pull our info together. I just need the documents to fill-out. Can you e-mail that to me?

You asked for it, and we listened! The FWA has allocated co-op funding for those groups who want to place advertisements in movie theaters. The purpose of this program is to help defray the costs associated with the ads and allow for more ads to be placed, increasing exposure to the Watch Farscape message. It will follow similar parameters to those of the printed advertisement co-op program.

We will pay 50% of the total cost of the ads, not to exceed $500 of that total cost. The total budget allocated for the movie ad co-op is $2000, so please get approval in advance to be sure that there is enough money to contribute to your groups advertisement. If you have already paid for movie ads, you may submit for reimbursement. Just use the form at the bottom of the post.
We encourage:
Combine your efforts with those of other Scapers in your area for regional advertising. Send one package of information for your area.
Advertise watching the show, not saving it. Show links for more information.
Use non-copyrighted images and fonts. The Farscape characters and the Farscape font are all copyrighted. Even art such as Ratscapes that modifies the characters is protected and the rights owned by Henson. We like Henson; we want to protect their rights. :D

If you would like to take a glance at some of the ads created by our graphic artists that are copyright infringement free, go to this thread:
http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5232
The people at the above phone numbers are very nice and anxious to work with you. Cost varies according to how many screens you want the ad on, how big an audience the ad might be presented to, etc. etc. Some can cost as little as $250 for a week or several thousand for a month or more, but these companies are willing to work with you and many are willing to make special deals when they understand that we are working as non-profit.
Call them up for your local area and they will be happy to work with you.

Would this also apply to a newspaper that covers a large number of counties? There is a paper where I live that covers everything within 3 hours of Williamsport. I do believe they still go to Pittsburgh as well. I will have to check into it to make sure they still go there.

Check into the papers that serve the largest areas, Selena. You can put ads in the Pittsburgh paper if you think more eyeballs will see it there.
It's a matter of "bang for the buck". Targeting the largest markets so the maximum number of people have a chance to see the ad.
Contact me if you want to talk about this further. The idea is to support people, so let's find a way to make it happen.

the amounts have been upped from 25% to 50% now and $150/$200 to $500.00. So it's an even better proposition now folks!!

please please please tell me the FWA will sponsor placing either underwriting ads or placement of the radio spots the same way! I can get a good run -- 3 weeks of underwriting ads, 1 on Thurs, 2 on Fri, on a seriously targeted demographic in Pittsburgh for $380 total -- $180 from FWA, $180 from the Pittsburgh Scapers (we are few in number, sadly).

about this as we have a radio campaign already about to spring into action and your area may already be covered.

D,
Chris Larsen FINALLY appeared out of the ether on Sunday at the meetup with OboeCrazy. I of course pounced on him for the paper work which he's mailing to me now. <sigh of relief> So I'll be able to send you both his and my paperwork in the next couple of days.
