Here's an idea: go visit your local library and fill out a request form for the Best of Season 1 DVD. A lot of libraries are now carrying DVDs; some for free circulation, some for small fees (usually no more than $1.00). If they don't have it, and no one in their library consortium does so they can't order it on inter-library loan, a lot of libraries will then purchase the DVD because there's been interest expressed in it. I worked in a library for 4 years, 1 1/2 of that in Acquisitions, and this really is something librairies will do. Once an order is placed, it often takes only a few days for it to arrive.
Free access to Farscape episodes would be a good place to point people, and having it on the shelf would certainly pique interest as well. And, well, if you happen to see it on the shelf there's nothing stopping you from turning it out so that it's noticed ;).

Kerlin:
What a good idea! Since you were an insider, we know it will work to ask for the DVD from libraries that check them out. At least at some libraries. That way, if the budgeting starts in Jan, they may have some available for new converts during Jan-March while FS is on. We have to keep the rating's high for all 11 eps, and giving access to more FS means more people will watch. We know it sells itself!
GREAT IDEA FOR SEASON 4:)
Another idea:
Some libraries have a place on their web site where you can ask a question. I've found the people who answer them on line are very curious and look up lots of stuff. If you ask a few questions about FS or where to get episode reviews, or Rockne O'Ban. it could start another person off to find out about it. I know it's kind of hit and run, but it's for their own good.
:aok:
Glad to have you on board, ready to jump in with these great contributions!

My own library in Nashville already carries the VHS tapes of Farscape. Believe it or not, not everyone owns a DVD player, or even particularly wants to own one. So it may be that most libraries already have tapes. I'm not saying that it isn't a good idea to suggest they order the Season 1 DVD set. Just letting you know that Farscape is probably already in most of your libraries.

You can do a quick check beforehand. Last night I did a very basic, broad search for "Farscape" in all the libraries in my consortium (which covers a good chunk of north of Boston) and I didn't get a single response.
And Sparky, a lot of the budgets won't turn over until later this year - and they're always scrambling to spend the money at that point anyway (only speaking from my personal experience). They have plenty of money to order it now.
LadyCrais, good point about the VHS tapes...everyone can make their own calls depending on whether their library is carrying more DVDs or VHSs right now which to request.
For added speed, a lot of librairies will let you do requests online now. See if your library has a webpage - usually easily found out by calling them - and you can often go through their and request an item using your library card number and name.
