Just curious...
Which theme do you like better?
The 1st - 2nd Season theme?
or the 3rd - 4th Season theme?

3rd-4th season. I'm not sure why. It seems a little less...awkward. thats the best definition that I could come up with.

I think his name is Guy Gross... the composer dude... I'm really impressed with some of the stuff he comes up with. He loves to decorate his music with harp. It fits perfect. A good example is the last scene of Promises. there are others but I'd have to think...

And if you haven't downloaded the salve_me and la_crimosa from Into the Lions Den, you should definatly do that.

I'll shut up now.

Wasn't it the 3rd season where we start to hear Crichton say "the wonders I've seen."? Man, I love that.

Edited to add: jfranka, sometimes something like this is a nice distraction. I wouldn't say it's "useless" if it eases a bit of stress. It did for me! :P

Pardon me for being dense, but exactly what do you mean by *theme*? The musical theme? The philosophical theme? The theme of the story arcs? Some other theme that currently escapes me?

Sorry, my brain is seizing up on me to protest the fact that I am not actually hibernating through the winter. (I must have been a bear in my last life :) )

that is played during the titles.

I heard somewhere that the first-second season music was supposed to be a mix of "futuristic" and "tribal" sounds. However, I feel that the third-fourth season music is much more fast-paced and exciting.

Overall, I suppose I prefer the latter version; its score edges out the first version's, and the monologue is definitely much more affecting and heartfelt. I do miss the original choral "up-turn" of sorts at the end, though, and I think that Browder's actual delivery (or the editing thereof) feels a little stilted, forced relative the overlapping lines of the first version.
Still, the "nightmares"/"wonders" dichotomy gets me every damn time. I haven't been so unfailingly impressed with a television intro since Millennium.

I didn't like the changes to Crichton's dialogue in the 4th season theme... seemed a lot less dramatic-- in the earlier seasons, his voice is cut from several different sources, put together very well....

"trapped on a ship (a LIVING SHIP) with these aliens (my friends)..." It just had more "dramatic motion" to it.

I recall being very disappointed in Chrichton's opening dialogue when season 4 started.

Oh, the MUSIC though, is just incredible.

I like the Later one also....seems to fit with his experiences

I like how the dialog changes to encompass the changing conflict of the show.

Remember, though, that Season 3's voice-over is stilted because it's a precursor to the twinned-Crichtons.

NOT USELESS -- this adds fuel to the fire I'm trying to whip up to convice GNP-Crescendo to go for a Season 3/4 Soundtrack!

Wow.

I never caught on to that, but it makes sense.

And I didn't realize it was so old either...I just saw it on the front page...I thought it was new.

I think that I have said this a couple of times but I like the theme from Season 3/4 better. I do like the one from Season 1 & 2 but I like the fast paced nature of the one from the later seasons.
