:) hi,
being from the uk i feel a bit out of the save Farscape battle as the sci-fi channel and or any other US based channel are only interested in local viewing figures. since the cost of producing Farscape seems to be a problem with sci-fi with the justification of cost etc, couldnt the other channels outside the USA help by jointly increasing the amount they pay to lower the cost to scifi. yes i know they might not want to pay more.. but with a campain from the rest of the world ( outside USA ) at their locat Farscape channel provider they might consider it ???
------------------------------------------------
what is the best way to use the outside USA
scaper fan base to help with the campain??

The BBC works on how many ratings they get, they couldn't give a flying frell about other countrys. The BBC would only be intrested in showing Farscape or helping with the campain if they will get better ratings than other channles. If they get good ratings they get good money. The BBC has the power, money and the resources to run Farscape alone, but as I said if they don't make money they won't want it. I know there are 1000's of us out there that want it back. So we have to shoe the BBC that it is worth their wile spending and investing money on Farscape.
So if we could get this message across to all the fans then mabey the BBC will pitch in and make a diffrence, and if they don't want to do it alone then other international channels will have to help. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS GET THE MESSAGE ACROSS, help us do it we need to get the message out and if at all possible start a campain alone in Great Britain. If we find these people Farscape is saved from complete destruction.

I'm afraid the BBC doesn't have the money to save Farscape. They don't advertise and the only money they get is from people's TV licences. If they can afford a show and think people will watch it then they will buy it. However, as shown recently by Channel 4 getting both Angel and The Simpsons, they do not have money to burn. Not even close. As much as they would like to help us out, they can't. I wrote to the BBC recently to thank them for running Farscape this past four years and for featuring the Save Farscape campaign on their Farscape web pages. I also asked that if they would continue to buy Farscape in its 5th season to show over here, could they write to Sci-Fi, UPN etc and tell them so. This is the reply I got.
Hi Sarah
Hey, good to hear from you. Glad you appreciate what we're doing on the site, and definitely keep up the campaign.
Really sad to say it, but there's no chance of the BBC funding Farscape. The difference in cost between buying it and making it is very, very large, and funding a series made so far away would also be difficult. The BBC has a responsibility to all its licence-fee payers, not just those that like science fiction, more's the pity, and it would be so expensive that we just couldn't justify it.
The fact that we'd buy it and show it wouldn't really make any difference to any other network, as it would be Hensons who got the money from us. And we can't start getting personally involved in other networks' business affairs, because that would be highly unprofessional, and we wouldn't want them to do the same to us.
Really, really sorry about that. Really.
All the best
Primate
So there you go. The BBC can't help, much as they'd like to. Our best bet is to continue writing to all the folks at Sci-Fi, UPN and all the advertisers because they are the people who will make a difference for us.

ON some comments that were made about my message I have done some research. First I went on the BBC web site and e-mailed for some info on Farscape. I got a load of bogs trolp that did'nt easy my mind. So I took a more direct approach and write a letter to the BBC asking what they could do for Farscape. They said more or less that, They don't want anything to do with them at the moment as they have already bought new programs to show in that time space :( So if they will show it again we will have to wait and they said from what they have see and heared the save Farscape campain is going well.:D
Thank you for pushing my need to find out more.

The folks at the BBC really do seem to be behind us in the campaign, don't they! But they are stuck in difficult position. I'm sure they will buy S5 to show it when it gets made, but they can't fund the actual making. It's a real shame.
I wouldn't worry too much about them having filled that time slot, it may be a while before we get S5 so I'm sure the slot will be open again by then :D And if it's not, we can campaign to get one of the Star Trek slots on either Tues or Weds to have Farscape in it instead.

I too contacted the BBC and yes they are behind us, but tooo far behind us...
We need more mails sent there to show the size of the fan base, we all could do this and ive even thought about asking some of the star trek fourms in the uk (who also like farscape) if they would do the same, they might if we ask? This then would show the BBC how big there ratings would be, thus bringing them closer to making some kind of action!
I know its a long shot but what do you all think?
Also why not try mailing channel four or even channel 5!!! If the BBC hear about it they just might not want a rival channel getting a look in.
You never know, if any of you think this is a good idea or have i slightly different angle let me know and maybe together we can put farscape on the map UK STYLE!!!

I dont what to seem like a put down but when my message was critizied I did research and I am still researching in to the matter.
As much as we love the SCI-FI its not coming back the Britain for a long time trust me. Mabey on sky yes not on day time tv so just deal with it I had to. The only thing people with out sky can do is buy the season box sets "expesive" but this also shows the world how popular it really is. Im on a self campain for Farscape all over the world just give time and do your part.
make web sites that will be checked and seen
do what ever you can by your self and help Farscape campain sites.
DO YOUR BIT!!!!!!!!!!!

well, I think more letters to the BBC could help, I mean, they have got less money then Sci-Fi, but they *DO* have enough...if is worth it enough for them.
Now, I think if we start writting to the BBC pointing out one little fact:
THEY ARNT SHOWING ANY NEW SCI-FIS WHATSOEVER!
We might just get a more possitive response.
I know its still a long shot, but the BBC is supposed to provide shows for everyone its part of its core responsablity....and its now completely ignoring one section of the population!!
Putting presuring on the BBC this way could get them a bit worried.
