Good afternoon folks,
Ryan here from In Other News.
The store is now open, where you can buy glossy prints of the Farscape strip we did. In addition, Lar and I also put together another strip, which is just for Scapers. That is also available for purchase, and download.
Over the next few days, we also plan on putting togethe another "farscape only" strip, which will either be about John & Wynona, or Ms. Haimmer covered in Bras. :)
The address:
http://www.inothernews.net/store.asp
5$ from every 10$ sale will go to the Beyond Hope Fund. We're looking to raise as much as we can.
Note: The price on the website is 15$ canadian funds, which is about 10$ american.
If there is a demand for it, we will make shipping available overseas. Let me know about that.
We hope this goes well, and that you enjoy your prints. :)
Any questions/comments/concerns, please send me off a note at sohmer@inothernews.net

Be sure to send a note to lar (desouza@inothernews.net). I'm just the brains, he's the talent. :)
He spend plenty of time doing research on D'Argo. :)

Well, you know, you can certainly tell that the 'brains' and the talent know the show- it makes such a difference.

How much will overseas shipping be? Can I order now, or do you need to set up options for overseas?
sohmer

Sarah - If there's a few people overseas who are interested in it, than I'll get it hooked up. Should probably only be 3 dollars more. Going to check on that now!

Just a quick note that Paypal is going down tonight for 3 hours, between 3am - 6am EST. Suffice it to say, the store will not function during those times.

Just a note: we're working on a few more strips now, and I wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas besides the Ms Haimmer one that they wanted to see.

How about one with scapers (or maybe John and D'Argo) carrying Matt Roush around on their shoulders while he's eating ice cream. LOL.
Actually, I wasn't sure whether to order now or wait for more strips. Are you gonna package them together?

Nope, we're going to package them seperately, as the other ones aren't going to be ready for a while.
How we're going to work it though, is anyone who ordered the first 2, will get a reduction in cost for the second bundle.
That way you can enjoy the first 2 now, and still save on the total amount.

Excellent. That should handle any trepidation out there, including mine :D
Thanks this is really cool! I love scapers!
Which brings me to another cunning plan... (OK who's heard Baldrick say this before?)
We should send (or sponsor to send) the comics to the really cool people out there helping the campaign as a Thank You. Perhaps collecting "Thank you messages to go with them" kind of like a personalized Spring Flowers campaign or the Matt Roush thank you plan. Just scaled back slightly.
Well its about time for Blackadder to come around and smack me in the head. So I'll duck now.

That's not a bad idea at all, there may be some potential there.
The more people that order the strips, the more we can give to the Beyond Hope fund. I hope it picks up soon.
I was thinking too, alot of people haven't even seen the D'Argo comic. Think I should post it here on the board?

Afternoon folks,
Due to the e-mails I've received from Scapers in Europe and elsewhere, we've decided to start shipping the strips overseas. This lets everyone participate in the fund raiser for the Beyond Hope fund.
For more information and to place orders:
http://www.inothernews.net/store.asp
For more information on the fund raiser itself:

Thanks for the time as always folks!

Ryan, definitely post the D'Argo comic on the board. It would drum up interest for sure. And I like akimbo's idea of sending the comic places; we did that with the cookbook as a "thank you" to cast and crew. Depending on how quickly they ship, they could be gathered to gift to cast members who are attending conventions.

Kerlin-
Should I post the actual strip right here in this thread, or a new thread?
For Akimbo's idea, how would this work out? I'd be willing to print and ship some copies at our expense. It's definately an idea worth pursuing I think.
Kerlin
03-23-2003, 02:17 PM
I'd start a new thread for it, it will get more attention that way.
As for sending copies to cast...uhmmm, last time we did it it was a very haphazard kind of thing. If you're willing to print and ship a few copies at your own expense that simplifies things hugely, because you don't have to call for donations, etc.
Getting them to cast members depends on a couple of things. If you want to have them in time for conventions, I'd post in the Conventions forum and ask if anyone wants to "reserve" a cast member at an upcoming convention. Then you'd send the strip to that person and they could give it to the cast member then. As for the cast members who don't generally attend conventions, that might get a little harder; I know that we got stuff to them last time. Just not sure how. Probably one of the higher-ups would know how to go about doing that ;). And hopefully they'll notice this thread soon and come share their thoughts with us...

Kerlin - Hopefully they will. It's definately a solid idea though.

Greetings All!
I too absolutely love the comics. They're definetly somthing to frame and hang along with the casts autographed pictures!! Which brings me to a suggestion...Can we get the comic prints autographed? I realize that such a request might be a hassel, but since this is a fund raising event, I thought I'd mention that I'd be willing to pay more if the comic genius's would sign them!

Hmm, signing the strips would be a little extra hassle, due to the fact that Lar and I live in different cities. But, if there's a demand for it, than we can prolly swing it by adding an extra 5$ or so. The delivery time would be a little longer.
Is there a real interest for it? Anything we can do to raise additional money for the fund, we'll do. We're only at 23 orders right now, and we were hoping for plenty more.

Ohh, I definetly plan to order one of every Farscape comic you come up with! It's a must!! I just didn't want to do it until I knew if they could be gotten autographed. If you decide to autopgraph them, will you have them on the store web-site to order anytime soon?

Ordered both a few days ago and got an email reply confirming it. They are really cool and of course, anything to help the fund!
Although rather different, don't you think the bunnies John and Scorpy would make a funny strip? It is a 'comic'...
Just a thought.

Sorry to take so long to respond folks, was having some internet issues. (as in my provider hates me)
As for the signed strips, is there a demand for it? I'd like to get 10 orders of that, would make it the easiest for me to handle.
Rodney - We're up to only 24 now. :( Was hoping for plenty more.
And thanks for the link man!

I didn't order yet! :::: ducks flying chairs ::::
You say we can get them signed? <giggles>
I want one of each!
Naw... I can't wait. This only means I'll have to climb a plane and catch up to you guys later. :P To make up for my mistake I’ll respond by posting a quicky Pic.
Fyi to the curious: Ryan has posted a beautiful pic of the D'Argo & Dave cartoon on the front page of SaveFarScape.com :rollin:

I'm not going anywhere :)
The good news is, they went out this week, so you should get them at the end of next week. Look for big brown puffy envelopes in your mailbox. :)
I've got to say though, they look really, really good. On the glossy paper, and the printer we hired, they just look incredible.
I'll post the tally here soon, along with the amount of the donation going to Beyond Hope.

Last time you posted you had something like 24 orders or something. If that hasn't climbed, its time for some marketing :)

A couple of things to do to advertise this a bit more:
- ask for another news item on the front page
- ask the regional group leaders to pass the information out through their Yahoo Groups/websites
- put another announcement through the SaveFarscapeAnnouncements Yahoo list

I will submit a news item and announcement for you. Could you verify something for me?
There are currently 2 comics: D'Argo tonging Letterman and "We are Farscape".
Are you still planning "another "farscape only" strip, which will either be about John & Wynona, or Ms. Hammer covered in Bras".
Thanks,
Akimbo

I'd buy both strips except that
1) I'm a little short on funds ATM
2) To purchase items using PayPal in Ireland you need a credit card which I don't have
