If it were up to us, we would in a heartbeat :) but, it's all about SCI-FI and nothing to do with this fan-run site to save farscape ;)

As I am new to the site, what can be done about this other than talking amongst overselves.
Is it a letter writing campaign that needs to be done?
I personally have enjoyed Farscape over the past four years as I'm sure everyone on this site has or they wouldn't be here!
There will be a convention in Portland, Oregon on April 5-6 with Virignia Hey and Wayne Pygram. It's my first Farscape convention and hopefully not the last!

I am troubled by the end of my favorite show and I vow to do what I can to turn it around. I saw the ad and wanted to come here as a show of my support. I have been writing letters and I have turned MANY friends on to the show, what else can I do? It is hard to believe that Tremors is to be Farscapes replacement! How much can they derive in interesting programming from giant, teethed worms, especially on a week to week basis?

Welcome Darqness! Where did you see the commercial? Do you have the Dish Network?
I, too, would start with B Sharp's thread posts. There are weekly "to do" lists where we concentrate on writing letters (last week we were sending Bra's to Bonnie Hammer).
The "new to the campaign" link on the front page is a good starter, as are the other thread in the newly created "New To the Campaign" Forum that you're in.
If you're graphically inclined (not like me, I draw only stick figures), there is a Graphics forum with great artists doing their portion.
We can definitely put you to work, whatever your interest.
Welcome.

HI FROM BARCELONA!!:hi: :olympic:
my name's Laia.
i am a farscaper since the first day i saw FARSCAPE in a local tv channel and i have to admit that FARSCAPE mesmerized me although i catched it a little late (chapter 20 more or less).
3xl.net (the tv program that emits FARSCAPE here in Barcelona) repeated it once again and i could see it from the very beggining and understand some of the things that i could not the first time.
i'm a part of a FARSCAPE forum here in Barcelona and all of us are giving our opinion about the wonders we have seen in Farscape.
we are against its cancellation and try to do something to change SciFi channel's mind. so your web has appeared several times in our forum.
i have to admit that i have visited your web few times before to know about you and your work. i have done a little donation but i think it will do something.
i just wanted to say to all of you, save farscape staff, that you're doing a great work!!!:aok:
i'll read in here what can i do to help you in your campaign because such a marvellous, incredible and fantastic tv show can't finish like that, with John and Aeryn's death!

Motown Farscape Fan
05-03-2003, 10:52 PM
Greetings from the Motor City - Motown - Hockeytown (not this season...) - in other words... Detroit!
I had been an avid Star Trek:TNG and DS9 fan in college, and found the series lacking. It got to a point where I gave up on the genre and got more into Fantasy (and boy did I waste time on crap like Xena and Buffy...)
Then a few new shows cropped up that got my attention. First was Babylon 5, a show that featured a strong story arc, a solid writing team, and a fresh breath for Sci Fi. That held by interest for a while, but it was still a show about sitting around waiting for something to happen.
It was then that I ran into Farscape. I had never liked the Sci Fi channel before as it appeared to be nothing but reruns of old shows I had grown tired of... but this show got me to watch!
I was a huge Crichton fan from Ep 1 and put him miles ahead of Picard, Kirk, Sheridan, or any other Sci Fi leads. He was a character I could relate with, with my own pop-culture background and perspective.
My wife (not a fan of the genre) finally succumbed to watching Farscape after I demanded it was the best show on TV. She cried at the series finale (hell, I did as well) and that shows the power of this show - it brought a traditionally non-Sci Fi viewer to tears when it ended. She was very excited last week when we saw "Pitch Black" on cable and said "Hey, that's Aeryn Sun!"
In all loyalty to the campaign, I have not watched Sci Fi channel since the conclusion... but may go back to see the old episodes re-aired.
Hope to see the movement pick up some momentum and perhaps (like Babylon 5) the series will find new life elsewhere.
- Bryan (aka Motown Farscape Fan)

Hi there.
Let me give you a quick run through the board and some tips I hope will help you out.
When you come to the boards you start out here, on the main page -
http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/
Then the page is broken into different forums and each forum has a description to help you figure out what goes where. When you click on a forum name you're taken into the forum. For example, the campaign strategizing forum is where the fans talk about the campaign and share news and ideas.
http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums...p?s=&forumid=14
Inside the campaign strategizing forum is the main page and up at the top there are two sub-forums. One is Help Wanted and the other is In the News. These both relate to campaign strategizing so they're all lumped together.
As you scroll down the campaign strategizing page you'll see all the threads - the discussions where people post. Here we'll go into a therad - click on the title that says "Brian Henson Leads Henson Family in Acquisition of the Jim Henson Company"
http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums...&threadid=10199
Now if you want to keep track of this thread you can have the option of subscribing to the thread. (this is great if you want to keep track of who replies to your threads or your posts). Scroll to the bottom of the screen and underneath the quick reply box you'll see three options " Show Printable Version | Email this Page | Subscribe to this Thread " Click on subscribe to the thread to keep track of that thread. You'll get an email notification anytime anybody replies.
Another option, when you reply, is to click the post reply button (instead of using the post reply box at the bottom of the thread) and you'll be given the option in boxes below the message field for "Email Notification: emails sent to you whenever someone replies." Check that box if you want to be notified of replies.
Now if you want to manage the threads you're subscribed to you can go to your User CP (control panel) at the top of the screen.
http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/usercp.php
You'll see a section that tells you if there are new private messages to you. A section that alerts you to what forums you're subscribed to. And a section that will list all the threads you're subscribed to. You can unsubscribe from there easily.
If you want to find the posts you made and you don't remember what forum you made them in you can use our search function. At the top of the page, next to your User CP button, is the search option. Click on that.
http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/search.php
Now you can do a search by your username. It will show you all the places you posted and you can go in and read who replied to you.
I hope that helps you a little bit. The search function is a great tool to use. And the subscribe to threads feature can help you keep track of discussions.
Let me know if you need anymore help or you have any questions.
Red

It's been a long time since I've been in this BB. I still feel a little shaky about the format, since I'm a computer nim-no (That's non-techie, I think...). Anyway, I have been posting a lot over at the SciFi BB, and since I don't know how many of you frequent that BB too, let me say that, as a FORMER Tremors fan, I became dis-enchanted with that series after the third (?) episode...the one with the weird plants ala "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". Anyway, having abandoned Tremors and locked onto FarScape (yes, I LIKE to spell it that way) I am having a lot more fun in my life. But recently, while in the midst of a letter-writing campaign to save a local fabric store (YES, I'm a FABRICAHOLIC! There! I've said it!) I realized that my letter-writing for FarScape just doesn't have the OOOMPH that the fabric store campaign elicited.
I feel very "OUT TO SEA" in my FarScape letters - don't know who to direct them to in order to gain the best impact. I've been writing to Bonnie Hammer and Michael Jackson, as per the sample letters under the "Boycott SciFi - Not From Here!" thread...and I sent a letter to Showtime expressing my desire to see FarScape at any cost...
  Well, these aren't QUITE the smilies that I wanted here - seems I jammed the 'smiley' window shut when I first went into it???? Anyway, I sure wish I knew where to send the bulk of my letters. I REALLY, REALLY want to send letters to all the SciFi execs gloating over FarScape's third Saturn win....suppose I should??
Hey! I just found my smileys!  :joy:   O-K, now I can have some REAL FUN!
But back to the subject...I guess I should go with the "shotgun":boom: :boom: :boom:  effect and send letters to EVERYONE....:headbang: :headbang: Oooooh, my aching head....
Any suggestions? Or is everyone else in basically the same boat?
SIGH...This post is very distracted. Once I figured out how to use these fun smileys :joy: I just lost my focus....

Hey guys,
I guess Im the nOOb on the block. Its tragic really, every show I become interested in somehow manages to be cancelled. This is the first show that I have been obsessed with since Space: Above and Beyond which was cut down after one season. I never really got into Farscape when it first came out. I started watching it religiously in the thrid season. Within a matter of days I now own all the DVDs that have been released.
Reading all the posts leaves me with some optimism. Im giving my support to this campaign because I believe there may be a chance of success, Good luck to all.

Hi from Firewall, yep the same one from Portent :). I've been watching Farscape on and off since it premired (sp) on BBC2, have bits on DVD and catch the occasional episode in Si-Fi UK.
Farscape is one hell of a series and I hate the fact that it is being cancelled (hey Doctor Who ran for twenty eight years and Star TRek had been on and of for more). Damn, who turned overwrite on?
Anyway, I'm making this a favourite and should be back from time to time, see you later.

I live in Australia where Farscape is not known very much at all, even though it was made here!. All my friends at school (I'm in Year 9) always say that they hate the show and i have no one there to stick up for me.
Anyway, i just want every one to know what it is like to live in a country where, not once, was Farscape ever a big show. Currently in Australia, they are still only up to the 3rd Season. The only things Fascape related that are sold in Australia are the DVD boxsets (thank God) and a magazine.

Hello, this is my first posting. I'm a little nervous, 'cause I know absolutely NOTHING about how to do this. I'm a "junior" member, but I think I'm a "senior" (age) junior. Before I started "lurking" in here, I thought threads were something you sewed with! Anyway, be kind, you sound like nice people. I will try to learn fast.
I love Farscape better than any TV series, program, movie, I have ever seen. Found it accidentally in season 3 while channel surfing during an insomnia attack (they showed it twice in my area, 2nd time at 1 a.m.) I miss it DREADFULLY. It's what pops to mind on my Friday drives home from work, can't believe it's not still ON (except in reruns, way too late for working folks, but I watch it anyway).
Did a little homework this weekend, sent in some donations to the library & military projects and the Where's My Riot fund, wrote Showtime, bought Season 1 box set and a DVD player from Best Buy, wrote them to tell them I did and why (they advertised on Farscape!). And I'm not done yet!
Everybody keep hoping! Hope I did this right.....:) :)

I've been lurking around these boards for ages, kept up with all the frelling amazing stuff that you've all been doing to keep FarScape alive.
I saw the other day, SaveFarscape had passed the 4000 mark, so I thought I'd register too. Well 4001, is better that 4000 isn't it?
I cannot believe that the show is gone, with all this talent and sheer tenacity being shown, this is just a hiatus. Henson won't need to look far, for new hires, that is for sure!

As I'm new to the cause, I hope I'll be able to contribute in any way I can.
There's a lot going on in the states, so maybe as I'm from belgium, it's time to stir things up in Europe.

Luckily, season's 1 to 3 are on the harddisk making it possible to get my daily doses of farscape.
It's also a great opportunity for friends to discover the show and get in to it.

I'm new to this stuff, so hopefully i'm doing allright. (gunther)
I have never before posted anything on a messageboard, but the people here are very nice. (Audaces)
wow, this is great. I'm a "newbie" too, had never posted anything anywhere before (I didn't even know about forums and threads & messageboards). I had to "lurk" quite awhile before I got the nerve to register this month.
gunther, your english is great! The french and german I learned in school has gone unused for a very long time (so long it has been forgotten)----so you are way ahead of me.

gunther, if you're interested in Farscape fanfiction, there are a couple of places I suggest you check out:
Leviathan: http://www.shriftweb.org/leviathan/
The Void: http://www.geocities.com/farscapevoid/
Scaperoute: http://www.scaperoute.com
Redbeard's: http://fffa.soliii.net/cgi-bin/archive.pl
And aeryn_14, have you checked out the New to the Campaign? forum yet? That would be a great place to start. Also, keep your eye on the front page, http://www.savefarscape.com. There's all sorts of good information there. The Campaign Strategizing forum is where the most up-to-date information can be found.
And one very important way to contribute, always, is by voicing your opinion. This campaign thrives on ideas, and you never know whose might be the next ray of brilliance!

I love Farscape! I never even saw it before it was cancelled. I caught a marathon, and as you all well know, that's all she wrote! It is THE best thing on television and the only thing that amazed me more than the quality of the acting and writing was SciFi's decision to cancel it! Which I learned of only hours ago! I can't believe it! What are they stupid! Increased production costs??!!!?? I'd watch it if the sets were cardboard! Screw the graphics, I just want the show back!!!!
How can it end with them vaporized? The bad guys win??!!?? What the heck is that??!!??
Anybody know if there are, or will be, any paperbacks continuing the stories? This vaporized in the boat dren cannot be allowed to be the end of this story - even if I have to make up the rest of the frelling thing myself!!! UUUGHHHHHH!!!!!

wrote letters to SciFI, Jim Henson, the WB and Fox in hopes of getting someone to realize what a mistake SciFi is making. I also pointed out to WB and Fox how they could capitalize on it. I hope I made an impression.
Has anyone figured out how many fans there are and how much each of us would have to donate to finance a fifth season? If there are enough of us, maybe we could just do this thing ourselves....

Welcome Rasal! :bgb::hi:
First things first, be sure to fill out the Scaper demographic survey, which will be open until June 30. You can find that here: http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/announcement.php?s=&forumid=14 This'll go a long way toward telling us how many Farscape viewers there are (online, at any rate).
Regarding funding a fifth season, the Viewer Consortuim was formed to help realize this. So far, the petition has over 4000 signatures and over $375,000 pledged. You can visit their website at www.theviewerconsortium.com.
Keep those letters up, and remember to say that you are a NEW viewer! SCI FI stated that one of the reasons for the cancellation was that Farscape was too difficult for new viewers to get into.
For the Farscape Cancellation FAQ, you can go here: http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8477 This has SCIFI Channel answers (i.e. spin) and the viewers' own response to the questions.
So glad to have you here! Jump right in and have fun!
:D

Wow...I'm surprised and delighted that people have spent the time and money on the attempt to keep the show going on SciFi channel. It's great to see that so many people enjoy the show as I do. I must say: FANtastic job. WOO HOO! :goof:

Hi Scapers,
I am new to this group. I joined last week when I realized my favorite show disappeared. Not only did it disappear but so did the midnight reruns. What is happening there? :headbang:
Everyone in my family started asking me what the Frell happened to Farscape. I did a search and found this wonderful site. I am delighted to find that there are others who are actually doing something to give hope to those devoted to Farscape.
I sent email to the SF channel but I doubt it will be noticed from what I read. The SF channel is my favorite station and this is the only time I have been disappointed in their decision/direction. I have apparently been clueless but I really did not know my favorite show was in danger. The midnight reruns should of been a hint. I guess I do not understand and it appears I have a lot of reading to catch up on. How could they cancel a show like the award winning Farscape with all the quality programming going on out there? :ewink:
I think I have good news. Talk about timing. Yesterday, our family was picked as one of the Neison Families. The first thing I said to the lady was, "They took away our favorite show, "Farscape" and I want to know why"? She laughted and told me that if I agreed to accept the job, I could make our views heard. There are 3 Farscape fans in this house. Believe me, we are all going to make a fuss over the shows disappearance including the reruns. Farscape was the only reason I accepted this year. I have a purpose. I think & hope!!
Thanks for being here. :sun:

Welcome Genevieve!
You are testimony to the fact that there are still fans out there we have to reach.
And keep writing to Skiffy and Viacom and Showtime and the other bidders for VUE assets (the todo lists on the front page each week tell you who the targets are). :aok:
Rest assured they've noticed us, lets keep the pressure on. And congrats on having your ratings voice heard.

Found this site by accident and had no idea so many people wanted to save the show. My husband and I watched it and were saddened that the story was incomplete. We'll follow this site to see what we can do to get the show back on the air.

Scapers rock. And we WILL get our show back.
Now, pick up a pen and paper and start writing those letters. Visit the Campaign Strategizing forum and post some ideas.
Every voice counts and we're very glad to see you here.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm a fairly new fan of Farscape, though it has quickly become my favorite TV show. I watch it it every Friday night on Space. But, you see, I live in Canada, and I have limited Internet access ( only on campus computers ). I was wondering if someone could give me an idea on how I could help make Season 5 a reality, because I JUST saw the Season 4 finale last weekend, and I MUST know how they plan to fix things, because I don't want it to end that way.

Just found this site today by chance. Wow! You guys rock!
This has to be the best board I've seen in quite some time. Definitely one worth joining.
As has been said, I've loved Farscape since Season 1 and can't believe Sci Fi would cancel the only intelligent scifi on air. Im very disappointed.
Anything I can do to help bring back this wonderful show, I'll do. Consider my letters in the mail!

Akimbo,
Thanks. And how did your par-tay go? Once again, I had too much Cryogenic fluid. Forgot to take bookmarks, flyers, dvd for the library, and postcards I was supposed to bring. :) I must contact Kerlin our fearless leader, and maybe bribe her with postage money.

It was an intimate affair. Two slugs on a couch sipping a beverage watching some "Scratch n Sniff" Woo Hoo!
It doesn't get any better than that :D

Hey we did "Scratch n Sniff" too! In fact, people demanded it. : ) Probably because I tried to make everyone watch a tape called "Magic Star Traveller". It features a a guy, a dummy, and a sock dog explaining how the universe was created. Once in a while, they report back to a Hippie on qualudes wearing green tights and pink ballet shoes, while sitting on the moon.
I'm pretty sure I will never be allowed to host again. :)

Ah, but my video collection gets so much worse. People are watching "electra-woman and Dyna girl" next time, after they've been plied with chardonnay and chocolate-cheesecake brownies. In fact, what's a little extortion among scapers? Maybe there will be no brownies until we watch electra-woman and Dyna Girl".
Hmmmm......
Kerlin

No brownies? Okay, that's just *mean*.
I'll give you bookmarks and DVDs etc. at the next viewing party, sound like a plan?
Why do I have the urge to strike a pose every time you say fearless leader? :D

So, Fearless Leader Kerlin, do you want the stargate in your front or back lawn? Styrofoam is just bad for the environment. And your vicious attack dog might try to eat it. Maybe we'll make it out of Brownies.....no wait, we'll build it out of hostile advertisers letters. My Kia replies alone, would....why am I even bothering? You're in a Ben Browder coma right now. Try not to drool on fellow passengers.
Alors bonne route, mademoiselle. : )
