Patrick Vien Adds Responsibility as President, Universal Studios Networks

Current President of Universal Television Group's Network Enterprises Unit To Now Also Oversee International Networks


UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Television Group (UTG) has given Patrick Vien additional responsibilities as President, Universal Studios Networks, it was announced today by Michael Jackson, chairman of Universal Television Group.
Vien, currently the President of UTG's Network Enterprises unit, the domestic arm that operates cable channels TRIO and NWI, as well as overseeing UTG's interest in Sundance Channel, will now add the responsibilities of managing and operating the eight international channels that Universal owns.

These international channels include:
* SCI FI U.K. -- A top 10 cable and satellite channel dedicated to the
most popular genre.
* 13eme Rue (13th Street) France -- The highest-rated channel on Canal
Satellite's basic tier.
* Calle 13 (13th Street) Spain -- The highest-rated channel in Canal
Satelite Digital's basic tier.
* Studio Universal Italy -- The leading channel on Stream's basic tier.
* 13th Street Germany -- Top five channel on the Premiere platform,
first in prime time in the basic tier.
* Studios Universal Germany -- The leading library movie channel on
Premiere.
* USA Network Brazil -- Top 3 highest rated, pan-regional, general
entertainment channels during primetime.
* USA Network Latin America -- Top 3 highest rated, pan-regional,
general entertainment channels during primetime.


In making the announcement, Mr. Jackson said, "Patrick has done a great job as President of Network Enterprises (TRIO and NWI), and with his international experience, we felt he was the right person to take on these added responsibilities for our international channels."

Mr. Vien added, "We are confident that our leadership position in every one of our global markets represents strong growth opportunity going forward. I appreciate the opportunity to both build our international channels and also manage new channel assets in the U.S."

As President of Network Enterprises, Vien manages American cable channels TRIO (seen in more than 20 million homes) and NWI:Newsworld International (seen in more than 17 million homes). Under Vien's leadership, TRIO has seen significant growth, as well as an increase in popularity and awareness. Critics and media nationwide have lauded TRIO for its creativity in original programming. Vien is the founding chief executive of both TRIO and NWI. He also oversees UTG's interest in The Sundance Channel, as well as any future cable networks launched by Universal.

Prior to joining Universal, Vien worked at North American Television as President & Chief Operating Officer where he founded and managed TRIO and NWI prior to their sale to USA Networks (now Universal Television Networks) in May 2000. From 1992-2000, Vien held various positions at Power Corporation in France and Canada.

Vien graduated from McGill University in Montreal with a degree in Economics. He also holds a Master's Degree in Communications from the University of Southern California.
