I had this idea just now while preparing my dinner of a lettuce and tomatoe sandwich (thank you "Aeryn in the background" during a scene in Constellation of Doubt for getting me hooked.)
Basically, let's lure companies who haven't previously advertised during Farscape to start doing so. I figure that the more companies wanting to advertise during it has *got* to help the show when other networks come looking to buy it. (I'm assuming that the more "we want to advertise during Farscape" requests they get would start driving up the price to advertise during it, especially after all the slots there get filled.)
Folks could list their favourite products and the contact info here. If enough people sent these companies letters requesting the same thing, it'd get noticed. At the very least, we get someone from those companies hooked on the show and maybe even on to become a member of this board/supporter of the savefarscape campaign.
Anyway, a letter would go like this:
Dear Unilever Bestfoods,
I'm writing to let you know how much I enjoy Hellmann's Bacon & Tomato Twist Light Mayonnaise. I use it nearly everyday for lettuce and tomato sandwiches. Knowing that it is low in fat and calories makes me happy that I am able to make your quality product a part of my low-fat healthy diet.
On a similar note, I've noticed that I haven't seen your product advertised on television lately. May I suggest advertising it during Farscape on the Sci-Fi Channel? Farscape is a quality, intelligent, fast-paced drama that has gained critical acclaim by the national media. It's demographics include <whatever it is we're supposed to say, please help, I've forgotten.> If you'd never had the opportunity to view this show, it's currently running at 12 am, Sun-Thurs on the Sci-Fi Channel. DVDs and videos of the drama can also be rented at Blockbuster. You can also find out more about it at www.savefarscape.com. A press media kit can be found at: www.scaperoute.com/savefarscape/onlinekit/onlinemain.html
Thank you very much for your time and for producing such a quality product.
Most Sincerly,
Your Real Life Name
City, State,
and you might want to throw in your own demographics
