Well, diffrent look, I dunno but between season 3 & season 4, did she change or what, she looks, diffrent now, more sexy than usual....

Yeah, they prettied her up a lot. When I first saw her in Promises in all that black leather and with that hair and all, I was like !!
It seems to me that they were more conscious of her make-up for Season 4 and instead of having her hair slightly messed up, split-ends sticking out and what not, they made it very slick. It's either straightened and hanging down long or tightly pulled back in a ponytail. Either way, she looks better than ever in Season 4.
Not to say she wasn't always sexy though. ;)

From what I've read, she started wearing wigs, in order to protect her natural hair, which is curly and had to be straightened for the show. That process is very damaging. (Hence all the wild ends sticking out.)
BTW BjossiBlack, my family and I were stationed with my father in Keflavik 1977-1980! Good to see some more International Scapers!:aok:

So, how did you like it here those years ????
Yeah, I'm a Farscape fan over here, buy it all on DVD's from the UK, since they don't show it on Icelandic TV.

It almost seems that she had a nose job between season 2 and 3 or sometime during season 2. Look at the first season, her nose was somewhat protrusive. Not bad in any way, but just like a roman nose. Then in the second and third seasons, it seemed to have gotten smaller, less obvious.
Perhaps it was different lighting or make-up or something else. But it seems, to me,
that she had some rhinoplasty.
In any case, she did change her looks somewhat. In season 4 she looked very pale, almost glossy white. That could also be makeup or maybe she wasn't getting as much of that Australian sun as she got the first season.
She also got bags under her eyes. Maybe that and the Palenesss was supposed to be the Sebacean version of the changes which occur during pregnancy. Who knows?
I could be wrong, though, and I am willing to admit that. It could very well be the lighting and different camera views, which have created the illusion that she had surgery.
It is also her private business, whether she did or not. I am not trying to cause hurt or pain, I am merely stating an educated opinion. Check out season 1, either the first or second episode. Her nose looked not too straight (on profile). Then check out the later episodes-- it looks as if it was straightened out.
In the end, I think she looked great before whatever the change in her looks was and still looks great afterwards.

They tamed her eye brows down for season 4. They are much more femanine then the seasons before.

Would I offend anyone if I said I did not like Aeryn's "look" this season? :( To me the wig, the makeup, the plucked eyebrows made her seem passive and characterless. (This is not a comment on Claudia Black, btw - she looks great in all the pictures I've seen of her recently!)
Aeryn has never struck me as being a conventionally feminine person - into fashion and girl talk and all that stuff. The split ends, the severe ponytail, the lack of makeup, etc., always struck me as complementing her character perfectly - serious, passionate, controlled and dedicated. The new look along with some of her passive behaviour this season has made me wonder whether The Powers That Be haven't been trying to redefine her character into the less threatening role of "hero's girlfriend".

hmm...interesting thought there. TPTB could have had something to do with the change of character between Season 3 and 4.

Count me in as another fan who really doesn't care for Aeryn's new look. I read somewhere that Claudia mentioned the "long black wig" for S4.
I personally think Claudia's hair was really pretty (very feminine when down) and very "military" when pulled back.
I really think her "sick" look had more to do with the character and what Aeryn was going through at the time (pregnancy, heat delirium, etc.)
I agree totally with NeuralClone on this one!!
(will check out the nose job possibilities.... that might have happened!)

Not to be a mean, but come on you guys the lady does other films besides FARSCAPE! Pitch Black (of course this was classic Claudia and Queen of the Damned) Also you have to remember the Farscape set was in Australia very hot anyway and the sets and lights and computers generate immense heat. Those sets are like working in furnaces....Could you handle those hours and fast pace sets constantly running in closed quarters.etc..... Come on I'd have bags under my eyes too. I think you all need to consider she is not a pampered actress like out American counter parts. She and the who female and male actors work hard, fast, exhausting schedules. It's not a day at the beach. I think some of you all should rethink your opinions before you start idol gossip. We think very highly of the ladies and the gents.....Give them some slack. These people are only humans. They also have a life outside of the sets..... They do cons and personal appearances. I think you are all thinking way to much and reading something into nothing......It just is what it is. Exhaustion. JMHO......But I've watched this show from the very start. I know what they've put into it. That's why it is so good.....<end of rant>  :smash: :fear: :poke: :flamethro :thud: :wb:
I'd like everybody to stop and take a moment and think about what they're saying.... when we make "educated opinions" on what may or may not have happened to anybody with no information, it's no better than spreading rumors about that person... it's even worse when done on the internet because rumors spread like wildfire when unchecked....
so, here's us, the admin and mods, checking it.... none of us want to see speculation on what may or may not have happened or what the cast may or may not have done. If the cast talks about their lives, fine... we will close threads that speculate...
got it?

Hey - hey! I confined all my remarks to Aeryn, please note. And I know all about Australian summers - I live in Australia. :ewink: (And if Claudia was hot, imagine what Wayne, Anthony and Gigi must have been going through!)
However, I do remember reading that DK wanted the characters to look as if "they'd been through hell", so at a guess I'd say that if Claudia was looking haggard, ill, etc. in the fourth season, it was part of her makeup as Aeryn.

Gosh, no one's mentioned Crichton's haggard looks, or Chi's "been through the wringer" looks, or even how Rygel looked worse for the wear at the beginning of season four. They all looked tired, beat, and like they've absolutely had it, with the exception of D'Argo, who didn't seem to look any different to me.

i remember an interview, i think is the one on the BBC website where Claudia talks about changes in the makeup staff, she said that every season they had different makeup artists and that each one of them had their style (of course) she also talked about the extensions/wig she wore in Season 4 and that the purpouse of that was to show the change in Aeryn after leaving Moya in Dog with two bones and that some time had passed, so they needed her hair to be longer.
Oh well, don't let me tell you the story, read it yourself here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/farscape/interviews/claudiablack/page11.shtml)

Whoaaaa!!! Let's all just slow down a minute. Everything I was talking about pertained to AERYN'S look, NOT Claudia!!! Except the possible nose job, and Geez, that is really no biggy, or is it? To some, it must be!
I st ill do not like AERYN'S new look! and she has been through HELL ever since her "pregnancy" started to be an issue, so ANYONE would look fatigued and a bit fed up with it all!
(I guess a actually resent anyone trying to censor my opinion on the Board! If that is the way it is going to be then I may just as well pack it up and go elsewhere. I try to allow for anyone's opinions, even if I don't especially agree with them. And very rarely will you EVER see me saying something back on someone else's thread that belittles them or makes them feel like backward children..... I get enough of THAT on the job, Spank you very much!)

well. this site is owned by the admins and they have the right to any rules they deem appropriate. there aren't many rules here. the one major rule is no bashing/discussing of private life of any real person be it a poster or celeb without their permission.
simple as that.
there is no need to talk about claudia or ben or me or red or anyone in anyway that doesn't pertain to their carreer, farscape, this board or the campaign.
if you really have a problem with those rules, you can pm me, red, wg or jul and if you still feel like we're stiffling you too much then you can leave. that's your choice.
this board is privately own and the owners can make whatever rules they want. by posting here, you are saying that you will abide by those rules.
thanks for understanding.

Gosh, I only meant that our favorite crew certainly appears in a way that is appropriate to what has been going on with the story. My goodness, there's been trial, separation, sorrow, newer and nastier enemies, torture, and the reward money on the crew has been exponientially increased. That's just gotta show up on a person's appearance!
Spoiler Warning........
I thought that that one woman's comment in the documentary in "A Constellation of Doubt" about how Crichton is suffering from Post Traumatic Syndrome was accurate -- although she was still one of the nastiest people in that program. I think that's true of the entire crew.
(Personally, despite all their troubles, I think they are all still very handsome.)

Well I seem to be the only one who loves the new look fom S4. But then I love the Morticia look from the Adams Family :D . I think it's a great look for a SciFi Character much more sexy than the girl next door look from season 1. I thought she looked tooo human in season 1.

I'd have to say that making the characters look like they'd been through a hard time is the kind of brilliance I'd expect out of Farscape. How many times have you snickered at some action show where the hero and heroine still look like they just stepped out of a bandbox at the end of a heated battle? I'm thinking particularly of those kinds of series where the female lead looks like they have to duct tape her into her costume to maintain a PG rating. ;)
I'm sure what they look like on set has very little to do with how they look when they scrape the paint off and go home.

as some people already mentioned: Claudia stated that the new look for Aeryn (and the rest of the crew) represented the trials they had been throught between the two seasons. So each actor and makeup artist came up with their own interpretation based on the character. Aeryn's long hair represents her time away from Moya.
I think the trials each person with through would be explained in seaon 5 (hopefully)

....even "haggard" Aeryn looks fantasic. I like the Morticia Adams look myself, and found Aeryn (and the actress) more beautiful with every passing year.
Now, dieddead46, I am with you 100% about Aeryn in JQ. I am not even partial to blondes, but DAMN!
The pic I would've gone with was the "Uh" look (biting her lip, narrowing her eyes,) she gave when Stark was talking about giving Aeryn a "really good time."
Yummy. :D

I took the change in Aeryn's look to mean that she was getting past some of her strict peackeeper upbringing. I noticed that she wore lipstick for the first time. I kind of thought she may have been trying to fix herself up for John, Maybe??? The acting in season 3 blew me away, but Aeryn did look better in season 4.:aok:

Lipstick for the FIRST time?? Maybe you should take another look at how often her lips change color throughout the seasons.

Well, anyway, it was a shade of hot pink, and maybe thats why I just noticed it then. But you gotta give that she definately looked better in season 4. I still think she was primping for John.

Personally, I liked Aeryn's hair better slightly curly, just me though....
I did not like the JQ's Aeryn's personality... southern accent, weak-dingy, That was soo NOT her at all. Maybe being female, I just hate to see females protayed as 'weak and dingy', or as 'blonde and dingy', I'm half-blonde, and I'm faily smart, I'd say.

I think I might understand what Padme is talking about. I can never tell what color my hair is. It's a mix of brown, red, and blond. And I don't dye it.
When I have to put down one color (like on a driver's liscense or something), I never know what I should put.

half-blonde = perfect half and half mix of red and blonde (for me) or whatever two colors, and it's natural (I do frost it now, so it's more blonde than normal, but tech speaking...)
