grinner
01-20-2004, 08:59 PM

I think the Doctor stated that he felt something being ripped out of him... and the three managed to get into the TARDIS right when the TARDIS was pulled to Gallifrey
who45
01-20-2004, 09:16 PM
yep...that about what I was looking for.
grinner

Who is George Trenchard and what was he in charge of? What happened to him?
who45
01-21-2004, 02:19 PM
Had to look this one up:D Hope this covers your question.
Former British colonel and governor of the prison where the Master was kept. The evil Time Lord tricked him into believing he was helping unmask the enemy agents sinking ships in the British Channel, whereas they were actually trying to contact the Sea Devils. When Trenchard realized he'd been fooled, he tried to shoot the Master, but was killed by the Sea Devils who had taken over his prison

grinner

grinner
01-21-2004, 03:13 PM
well... you made me read that dang episode synopsis so many times... that I can remember pretty much how everything in it goes. :P
What is the Silurian Scientist talking about when he says this "When the apes used to raid our crops we used to use this. Millions were wiped out Now we could conduct experiments on this ape..."
the episode is 'The Silurians'
Vikes4ever
01-21-2004, 03:40 PM
Wasn't it a deadly virus?
When I was reading the quote, I could just see the Silurian wagging his head as he talks with that high-pitch voice.

I don't know... need to search.
Vikes4ever
01-22-2004, 02:20 PM
Wait now......You don't mean to say that you always capitalize every letter do you? I know each letter in T.A.R.D.I.S. stands for a specific word, but that isn't something that most fans worry about is it? I'm asking sincerely, because I really have never thought that much about it. Is that a popular pet-peeve of which I'm unaware? :dunno:
grinner
01-22-2004, 02:42 PM
If you ever go to some Doctor Who boards... like the BBC and OutPost Gallifrey, TARDIS is always capitalized. You will get jumped on at many forums for that.
There are even some that jump on you for putting a - between K9... like K-9
who45
01-22-2004, 02:58 PM
Well I know I've put a - in k9 sometimes...glad I never did it on the BBC forum,lol.
grinner
01-22-2004, 03:28 PM
oh and be sure to capitalize the K... and never call the Master... the Master... it is The Master. Just like it is always The Doctor and The Rani...
I have years of expirence with Whovians/Whoites... but the Whoites are more strict about it.
who45
01-22-2004, 07:25 PM
K9 better?:D
grinner
01-22-2004, 07:30 PM
I cannot find what Vorg called the TARDIS.
Yes, K9 is better :P
Vikes4ever
01-23-2004, 03:37 PM
In "Carnival of Monsters", when he pulled the TARDIS<----:prop: out of the Mini-Scope, Vorg called the TARDIS a bit of "brick-a-brack".
On the K9/K-9 thing......
I can understand spelling TARDIS with each letter capitalized as being more "correct", even if the other way should be forgiveable, as long as "Tardis" is capitalized like a proper name.
As far as K9 is concerned, it's spelled "K-9" on his body, or K dot 9 to be more precise, and not "K9". So, if some fan on the BBC or Outpost tried to correct me on that, I think I might just have to slap him or her. It really doesn't bother me however someone writes the names as long as they spell them correctly and they're treated like proper names. From what I've read, it sounds like you've been given a stern-talking-to from some righteous fans before?
One of you can ask a new question.

When The doctor wanted to go back to Gallifrey to see Leela, why was Romana upset?
grinner

With Letts now in charge, recording resumed on May 7th and 8th, which were again a Thursday and Friday; work on these days concentrated on episodes three and four, as well as some material from part six. Exactly two weeks later, episode five was taped alongside the remainder of the sixth installment over May 21st and 22nd. Unlike the earlier recording days, which had taken place in BBC Television Centre Studio 3, work on these dates shifted to TC6 instead. Pertwee had a rare opportunity to play a different role during this session, as he prerecorded the announcer's voice (performed in imitation of Nazi propagandist William Joyce) heard over the Brigade Leader's radio. Cast and crew then returned to TC3 for the final episode, which was taped on Friday, May 29th.

Good job finding the Pertwee/announcer thing. I checked back yesterday afternoon, but no one had posted since the day before.:) It's a bit funny, too. I new that Pertwee did the voice, before I asked the question, but just to see how hard it would be to find the answer online, I did a search. I searched for "Inferno announcer" on Yahoo and it came up as the 6th link. I was kinda shocked seeing that you went through 12 pages. However, I guess knowing the answer would make it easier.
I've heard of this NQ quote, but I can't remember it at the moment.

ZOE: What are you looking for?
DOCTOR: Well now's our chance to investigate the power unit and-and find out what fuel this ship carries.
ZOE: Well the Quarks use ultrasound. So presumably it must be a fuel capable of producing a high enough energy quotient to sustain an amplifying complex of considerably sophisticated design.
DOCTOR: Yes, must be pretty powerful too.
ZOE: Yes, well that's what...

Ok, looked this up because I wasn't sure...the First World War (near Ypres 1917), a Roman occupied country and America during the Civil War (1862 according to the map). Other zones either mentioned or seen on the map include Scotland during the 1745 rebellion, the Crimean War, the Boer War, the Mexican Civil War, the 1905 Russo Japanese Peninsular war, the Thirty Years War, the English Civil War, the 'Greek Zone' [Athens/Sparta war of the 5th century BC], and, by implication, the French Revolution (one of the Resistance is a sans culotte).
