Sorry to but in here, but I caught this programme on BBC's Radio 4, last night - it was called My Life as a Dalek (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/dalek.shtml) - follow the link, you'll soon be able to listen to the programme on Realplayer, from the archive.

BTW You may recognize the TV presenter, wearing the flared jeans, with the Dalek. It's Peter Purves, who used to play one of the good Doctor's assistants (back in William Hartnell's stint)...

Enjoy!

I think it was Labosa or Loboa something like that?

grinner
07-30-2003, 10:12 PM

NQ. What was the Peking Homolocous, who created it and what did it start?

who45
08-01-2003, 07:20 AM
Well, I'm not sure who created it but I think it was created as a toy for the Commissioner of the Icelandic Alliance's children. It was evil and started WWVI...I think it was WWVI. It eneded up with Magnus Greel. If that's what you were looking for then...

Q. How did Professor Litefoot end up with Magnus Greels's time cabinet?

grinner
08-03-2003, 08:37 PM
Greel created the Peking Homunculus in order to assassinate the Icelandic Alliance Commissioner, an action which set off World War Six

who45
08-04-2003, 02:19 PM
He was some sort of demon, eventhough I don't think in the episode they said exactly what it was. Morgaine held him captive and was going to release him onto the Earth. He could be killed with silver bullets.

NQ. Which of the Doctors did the Brigadier NOT meet?

who45
08-04-2003, 05:07 PM
? Either I'm really slow today or is that a clue?

grinner
08-04-2003, 05:09 PM
no... just something from the FIRST post.

who45
08-04-2003, 05:10 PM
It can't be the first Doctor because he did met him in the Five Doctors episode.

grinner
08-04-2003, 05:13 PM
Technically... He was never in an episode that had the true first Doctor. Nicholas Courtney was in an episode... Dalek's Master Plan... but he wasn't in an episode. I should have reworded that question

who45
08-04-2003, 05:19 PM
I know that he was in the Dalek's Master plan and not as the Brigadier. The Five Doctor episode was with Richard Hurndall who wasn't the true first Doctor, but on the episode he was the First Doctor....I don't think I'm making sense..sorry,long day, lol.

grinner
08-04-2003, 05:22 PM
Oh... I agree with you... I forgot about the 5 Doctors. What I meant to write the question as... which Doctor did the Brigadier not be with as they were initially shown. So the First Doctor would have been a trick question. But I wrote it wrong.

You're up.

who45
08-04-2003, 05:25 PM
Q. What did the Terileptil's android pose as?

who45
08-04-2003, 08:05 PM

Q. Why did the Queen Spider take control of Sarah; what did she want?

grinner
08-04-2003, 08:21 PM
I think it was the Blue Crystal that Jo once had... and that she had given back to the Doctor. I think... if I remember correctly... that the crystal would complete a web that would make the Queen Spider intelligent to infinity... but it killed her instead. This is what you are asking about, right? It was the last episode with Jon Pertwee as the Doctor.

who45
08-05-2003, 01:36 PM
I thought I might have gotten you on that one...you're right.

grinner
08-05-2003, 06:24 PM
yep

who45
08-05-2003, 06:42 PM
Q. How did Rorvik end up destroying his own ship?

grinner
08-05-2003, 08:50 PM
didn't he try to use his ships engines on full power to pull away from the Tharil gateway... and didn't the resulting blast bounce off of the castle... and blow the ship up?

who45
08-06-2003, 02:25 PM
Yes, you right..next

grinner
08-06-2003, 02:36 PM
NQ. Who was the greedy senior tax collector for the Company in Megropolis One on Pluto and which Doctor did he fight with?

who45
08-07-2003, 04:27 PM
Well, I know that the fourth Doctor refered to Shakespeare in the episode City of Death. The Count had the original Hamlet. The Doctor told the Countess that Shakespeare didn't write it, he did because Shakepear had injured his hand. The other two times...I have know idea.

who45
08-07-2003, 04:55 PM
Well...I'm going to guess...the first Doctor talked about how he met Shakespeare?

grinner
08-07-2003, 04:56 PM
Nope... his image was projected on the First Doctor's Space-Time Visualiser... in the Dalek's MasterPlan.

who45
08-07-2003, 04:57 PM
I don't even remember that...your turn again.

grinner
08-07-2003, 05:00 PM
Who was Shav and what is unique about what he was compared to those that he is similar to? This is a very round about question... if you need a hint... I will give it to you.

who45
08-07-2003, 05:14 PM
I know he was one of the Cybermen thatinvaded Snowcap Space Tracking Station.

grinner
08-07-2003, 05:28 PM

who45
08-07-2003, 07:11 PM
Mondasian? I'm not sure of the spelling.

What ideals or ideas were first used in Doctor Who and then used in the Star Trek series?

who45
08-09-2003, 09:05 PM
Well first I would have to say visiting other planets and different species;Doctor Who had evil cyborgs that were once men-the Cybermen. Star Trek had the Borg; The transmat beam was used in Doctor Who to transport from one place to another-in Star Trek they "dematerialized" using transporters. Those are a few that I can think of right now, but I know there is more....is this close to what you were looking for?

grinner
08-09-2003, 09:17 PM
Those... but the one that I was really looking for was the Non-Interference laws... and the fact that the main character or groups of characters don't obey it.

But I was also looking for the Borg/Cybermen link and the transmat beam.

So... your question please. :P

I was re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-reading it again... and it just hit me... it made sense. Everything else is irrelevant without someone to care for... maybe I am getting sappy as I get older. I am amazed at how much my philosophy towards life has changed over the years. I was going thru some old files... and I found some interesting things. One is a list of books that I wrote down upon as I read a book. I started it in 1978 and it was 2 100 page notebook's full. Both sides of every page... and I stopped writing down the books in 1991. That is one hell of a lot of books. Another thing that I found was a list of the 3 books that I would bring with me if I were to be able to use the Time Machine from HG Wells book The Time Machine. It was written for my 6th grade class... and it is amazing what I would bring. The Bible, How things works and How things work again were the books that I chose. I don't know if I were to think about what I would bring along... if they would be those 3 things. hmmm.

No, I don't think your getting sappy. I mean think about it, if you don't have someone to care for (family, friends, boyfriend/girlfriend...etc) then honestly, how can you enjoy life. It would be very empty. And yes..that is a lot of books, lol. But then I love to read too but I haven't written them all down...I think I've just kept most of them, lol. I have stacks upon stacks of books. In what's supposed to be a spare bed room, I call my library because I have two book cases that stretch from celling to floor slam full of books. I guess it's a weakness, lol.

When I was in 4th grade... my school had a academic team for something called Battle of the Books. Actually my brother Steve, who is 5 years older than me was on my schools first team. It was then just for 5th an 6th graders. Anyway... from the time my brother Steve and then my brothers Dave and Tom went thru the Battle of the Books... my school was undefeated for 5 years in a row. When I was in 4th grade... it was decided to field another team... and I proceeded to read every book that was on the list before the first contest. You see we were assigned books to read... and I didn't want to lose a single contest. So I read every single book. Which lead to the first and only time that a single person got every single question that was asked right. And yes... that person was me. My group of student went undefeated for the 3 years that I was on the team... other teams missed some questions... and lost some events... but my group never lost. When I was in 6th grade, my brother Mike was in 4th and his group only lost 2 events in the 3 years he was involved. After my brother Mike got out of 6th grade... my school never won a championship again. but for those 7 wonderous years... because of my brothers and I... we had a 7 year winning streak. My mom recieved an award for the wonderful job that she supposibly did... but the only thing she did was drive us to the library once a week.

NQ. How long had the colonists been on Frontios when the Doctor arrived?

grinner
08-11-2003, 09:44 PM
I think it is 40 years.

I did have to google this answer.
________________________________
The Ark: The Steel Sky; The Plague: The 1st Doctor, Steven and Dodo discover a ship moving the entire miniaturized human race from a doomed Earth to a new home on Refusis II. Dodo gives many of the Guardians, and their servants the Monoids, a cold, to which they have no resistance. The Doctor manages to devise a cure.

Another ship launched from the doomed Earth passes near the planet Frontios in the Veruna system. The Tratactors, marooned on Frontios, use their gravity- manipulation abilities to bring the ship down in a crash-landing. The Tractators hope to eventually use the humans for their own purposes.

Parkin's History and The Discontinuity Guide both agree that "Frontios" occurs at around the same time as "The Ark." I'm moving the actual crash back to the same time as "The Ark," and "Frontios" itself 40 years later.

10 000 010

Having allowed the colonists stranded on Frontios time to establish themselves, the Tractators begin pulling asteroids down to the planet in order to keep them technologically crippled and easier to take advantage of.

Ten years after the crash (10 000 000) and thirty years prior to "Frontios" (10 000 040).

10 000 040

The meteor attacks on Frontios orchestrated by the Tractators become more frequent.

"A few weeks" before "Frontios."

On Frontios, colony leader Captain Revere begins to suspect the existence of creatures living beneath the Earth. He gives orders that, in the event of his death, the colony's research center is to be shut down.

Some time before "Frontios."

Frontios: 1,2,3,4: The 5th Doctor, Tegan and Turlough assist Frontios, a struggling colony of humans, one of the last in existence. The colony is under attack by the Gravis and his Tractators, who require human beings to run their machinery. The Doctor manages to isolate the Gravis from the Tractators, rendering both dormant; as a result, the colony has an opportunity to thrive.

Forty years after the crash in 10 000 000.

Well... Cho-je and K'Anpo are the same person... And he helped the Doctor regenerate after when the Third Doctor wasn't strong enough to force the regeneration himself.

But you got the vast majority of it... so... you are up.
