Frell, I thought that would be at least a little hard. You're right, it was the Leisure Hive epi.

my memory comes thru again.
NQ. What was the true reason behind his costume change?
who45
08-20-2003, 05:10 PM
John Nathan-Turner wanted Baker's Doctor to be more serious. He thought Doctor Who should be revamped going into the 80's.
NQ.Sutekh died of what?
grinner
08-20-2003, 05:17 PM
Didn't the Doctor trap him in an endless time corridor? aging him 1000's of years in a few seconds?
who45
08-20-2003, 05:19 PM
Right again. Love hearing those words don't you, lol.

This is one of my favorite episodes. Sundvik was one of the Viking survivors that brought the flask to England. His descendants were Millington, Judson and Wainwright. Also Ace and her mothers line of the family.
NQ.What would happen to the Doctor if he had helped Mawdryn and his companians?
grinner
08-20-2003, 05:43 PM
Captain Sorin was the one I was looking for.
A. He would have used up all his Regenerations... which would have effectively killed him. I think that there were 8 Undead... and the Doctor had 8 regenerations.... with 9 incarnations left. It would have sent the Doctor right to his last incarnation... his 13th... so... death.
NQ. What was the Mestor's plans?
who45
08-20-2003, 05:47 PM
Mmmm...I think he wanted to cause an explosion by causing a planet to go into Jaconda's sun. Then his eggs would spread throughout the universe?

grinner
08-20-2003, 08:08 PM
It would have to be a very big hint... because I can't find anything about it on the interweb... I am stumped but good.
who45
08-20-2003, 08:10 PM
It has to do with Chronotis' heartbeat; what did he do with it...
grinner
08-20-2003, 08:14 PM
does he stop one of his hearts?
who45
08-20-2003, 08:23 PM
No, he uses his heartbeat in Gallifreian code.

who45

Ok, I'll give you this question then I've got to go get some sleep. Night.
Q. Who were the two friends that Ace found on the planet of the Cheetah People
grinner
08-20-2003, 08:48 PM
Midge and Shreela?
who45
08-20-2003, 08:50 PM

grinner
08-20-2003, 08:51 PM

NQ. What is the name of the Gallifreyan technician who reported the transmission of the Fifth Doctor's bio data to Omega?
who45
08-21-2003, 02:01 PM
I know Damon found out about it and reported it, but not to Omega because he later helped the Doctor and Nyssa....Hedin was the one who was helping Omega but he isn't a technician...I have no idea.
grinner
08-21-2003, 02:45 PM
It was Damon.
who45
08-21-2003, 02:57 PM
Q. How were Belaz and Kracauer going to kill Kane?
Bargaintuan
08-21-2003, 11:24 PM
Ack! I come back to find I missed a bunch of questions I knew answers to and am stuck with a question I no nothing about. :-P
I am a fan of the show, but haven't seen it in years.
grinner
08-22-2003, 05:13 AM
I think that they attempted to raise the temperature around Iceworld...
Hey Bargaintuan... there have been quite a few times that we, who and I, have stumped each other... just 2 days ago... who got me twice.
who45
08-22-2003, 05:42 PM
Actaully they raised the temp. where he slept, but that was on Iceworld, so your answer was close enough for me.
grinner
08-22-2003, 05:46 PM
NQ. Who killed Linx and how was it done?
who45
08-22-2003, 05:56 PM
A. Hal shot an arrow through his vent.
NQ. Who was the ice sculpture of that Kane had made?
grinner
08-23-2003, 09:13 AM
was it of Ace?
who45
08-23-2003, 03:26 PM
No, it was someone that escaped with Kane.
BTW like the Dalek. I do wished I could find a cool Doctor Who avator but don't know how to do it on this board.

grinner
08-23-2003, 04:23 PM
was it Belazs? If not... I haven't seen this episode in years... I give.
Somewhere I have a Model TARDIS that I built about 18 years ago. I left it at my parents house and it was put up into the attic. I should try to find it one day.
who45
08-23-2003, 04:36 PM
It was Xana.
NQ. What was the Black Pool?
grinner
08-23-2003, 04:41 PM
I think it is a holiday resort. The Doctor was going to take Peri there after Revelations of the Daleks.
Right?
who45
08-23-2003, 04:44 PM
No, this had to do with Sarah and the fourth Doctor.
grinner
08-23-2003, 04:50 PM
It is also the last thing that the Doctor says in the Episode of Revelations...
It was not only viewers, either, who had concerns about aspects of this season's content; some senior BBC executives also had serious reservations. As written and recorded, Revelation of the Daleks should have ended with the Doctor promising to take Peri to Blackpool. By the time its closing episode came to be transmitted, however, the series' very continuation was in doubt, and a freeze- frame ending was substituted with the word 'Blackpool' left unspoken on the Doctor's lips...

I believe you, but that's not the Black Pool I was looking for. The Black Pool was on the planet Zeta Minor. It was the gateway to an antimatter universe. But since my question didn't specify which Black Pool, you get the next question.

NQ. What are hymetusite crystals used for and who used them?
who45
08-23-2003, 05:06 PM
I think they were used by Nimon...didn't it do something to create a vacum in space or a black hole..something to that effect?
grinner
08-23-2003, 05:10 PM
yes, they did create Blackholes... but what specifically were they used for?
who45
08-23-2003, 05:13 PM
to travel time and space. If that's not it then I give.
grinner
08-23-2003, 05:15 PM
that is it.
who45

I really had to think on that one.
Q. The natives of Tara developed androids to replace the people that died from what?
grinner
08-23-2003, 05:28 PM
I will get back to you on this one after I watch the episode... but I think that they were murdered/assassinated

Boredom? ;)
Bargaintuan
08-23-2003, 05:33 PM
Actually, I think it was a plague, if I'm getting my android episodes right. :P
who45
08-23-2003, 08:31 PM
Whoa Bargaintuan you got it right. They died of a plague 200 years earlier. Now you get to ask the next question.
Bargaintuan
08-23-2003, 09:24 PM
OK. Here's a three-parter:
Q: Where did the Fifth Doctor get the sprig of celery he wears on his lapel, where does he exchange it for a new one, and what unusual characteristic do these two sprigs share?
The third part should be easy, if you think about the first two. ;)
who45
08-23-2003, 09:43 PM
A. The Doctor gets the first celery stick on Castrovalva and then replaces it on the Enlightment episode. The chracteristic they both share is that they never wilt.
NQ. The Doctor said that the origin of throwing salt over your shoulder came from what; it had to do with a myth he was told as a child.
Bargaintuan
08-23-2003, 09:48 PM
They don't wilt because they are illusionary - the first created by Adric as part of Castrovalva, and the second created by the Eternals.
grinner
08-23-2003, 10:25 PM
It destroys the Fendahleen?
edit... found this...
The Fendahl requires twelve Fendahleen and a core to form its gestalt. The Doctor discovers that 'sodium chloride obviously affects conductivity... and prevents control of localised disruption of osmotic pressures.' 'You mean, salt kills them?' asks Leela.
who45
08-23-2003, 10:28 PM
yes, you're right.

08-24-2003, 03:18 PM

NQ. What did the TARDIS take the form of when the 6th Doctor almost had the chameleon circuit fixed?
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 03:20 PM
I remember the organ, but I think there were a couple other shapes.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 03:29 PM
I've got it! An organ, a stone doorway, and a stove.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 03:31 PM
Here's a tricky one.
What are the three points of contact a materialized TARDIS' interior (which is in another dimension, of course) has with the normal universe?

Well, I'm truly stumped with this one.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 04:52 PM
I'll give you what should be the most obvious one: the TARDIS doors. The other two are used in virtually every episode, one explicitly, one implicitly.
who45
08-24-2003, 05:00 PM
Maybe I'm just really slow today, lol. Are the other two the Tardis floor and the image screen (can't remember the technical term they called it)?
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 05:03 PM
The scanner is one, yes. The third one is the trickiest. It wasn't actually shown until recently, but has been used (implicitly) throughout the series.
who45
08-24-2003, 05:07 PM
I have no idea.
grinner
08-24-2003, 05:16 PM
Are you talking about the Consul? With the time turrent and all that? Or the Cloister bells system that is part of the recall system that Galifrey can recall all TARDIS's back to Galifrey.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 05:43 PM
OK. BIG hint. It has to do with how the TARDIS is powered.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 05:44 PM
By the way, I kinda got a start on my 3D Dalek today.
grinner
08-24-2003, 06:03 PM
Are talking about the Eye of Harmony... which only appears inside of the TARDIS in the Fox Movie... but in every other Canon history of Doctor Who is located on Galifrey? In every episode other than the Fox Movie... the Eye of Harmony is on Galifrey and it powers the TARDIS's thru the Temporal controls. That is why the High Council can recall the TARDIS's... they remove the powersource and the TARDIS's return to Galifrey. The Master is the only known TimeLord that has successfully bypassed this recall system.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 06:09 PM
Well, technically, the Eye of Harmony is a single black hole that powers all TARDISes, so all TARDISes must connect to it in some way.
grinner
08-24-2003, 06:13 PM
But it is on Galifrey... that is what Omega was working on containing when he was pulled into the Black Hole.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 06:21 PM
It can be on Galifrey. Normal notions of location go out the window when it comes to TARDISes. The Master's TARDIS and the Doctor's TARDIS were inside each other in "Logopolis", for example.
One the same note, I don't see any conflict in how the Eye of Harmony was presented in the Fox movie and previous canon, since the TARDIS exists outside of the normal universe, it can be connected to this universe in any way necessary for it to function. Other examples of this are when the TARDIS is in one time and place, but the scanner is able to show another. Since the Eye of Harmony must always be connected for a TARDIS to have power, it makes sense that the Time Lords would use that connection as the basis of their recall system.
Here's a puzzler (not trivia, though): if the Master is the only one to ever defeat the recall system, why wasn't the Rani recalled?
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 06:23 PM
In any case, you got the answer.
grinner
08-24-2003, 06:40 PM

The Rani... along with other Rogue TimeLords were being protected by the Celestrial Intervention Agency... who also attempted to protect the Doctor. But the Doctor was to high profile... he meddled to much to be completely protected. He also was well know to Baruso and other members of the High Council... so he got screwed.
The CIA wanted TimeLords to interfer... so they protected any and all TimeLords who meddled. That is why the Master wasn't recalled... the CIA covered for him.

NQ. What were the webs called that the Master used to contain Adric on Castrovalva?
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 06:57 PM
Here's an interesting sidebar to this trivia thread.
How many of these Sci-Fi Clichés (http://enphilistor.users4.50megs.com/cliche.htm) is Doctor Who guilty of? It might be fun to try to name episodes/stories for as many of these as we can. ;)

I know it caused the recursive occlusion which created Castrovalva or rather Adric did by using block transfer computation, but I don't know and can't find the name of the webs.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 08:24 PM
It was some kind of energy web behind a Castrovalvan tapestry that showed events of significance, such as the Doctor's arrival.
You mean it had a name?
grinner
08-24-2003, 08:34 PM
yes... it had a name... a specific name at that. It is in the target book and it is said what the name is in the episode.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 08:56 PM
I can't find "Castrovalva" on Kazaa. Thinking this much about it makes me want to watch it again. :(
grinner
08-24-2003, 08:58 PM
Do you want the answer and have me ask another question?
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 09:10 PM
Well the only thing I can come up with is "web of power", or possibly "web of time", since a lot of stuff in Doctor Who is named that way.
If it's neither of those, I give.
grinner
08-24-2003, 09:18 PM
The were the Hadron Power Lines : Web of energy used by the Master to keep Adric prisoner while he created Castrovalva.
NQ. What race was helping the Master start a war between Earth and the Draconians?
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 09:24 PM
I remember this one. The Daleks.
grinner
08-24-2003, 09:25 PM
Nope.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 09:28 PM
The Ogrons, then, though the Daleks were still behind it.
grinner
08-24-2003, 09:31 PM
The Ogrons. The Master didn't have any meaningful connections to the Daleks... it was the Ogrons that helped him.
You are up.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 09:39 PM
What major improvement to the TCE was the Master apparently working on in "Planet of Fire"?
grinner
08-24-2003, 09:45 PM
I think he was trying to make it so that instead of having the victims become tiny... that there would be nothing left to them. That everything would be compressed to nothingness.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 09:47 PM
Correct.
grinner
08-24-2003, 09:53 PM
NQ. What is the only known force capable of shielding anti-matter, how is it generated and who tried to use it to take over the Doctor's body?
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 09:58 PM
Well, this has to be Omega, in "Arc of Inifinity". I have to think about the first part, though.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 10:00 PM
Quad magnetism?
grinner
08-24-2003, 10:03 PM
yep... what about the third part
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 10:05 PM
Are all three of us in the U.S.? If so, I guess there's a one hour break right about now. ;)
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 10:06 PM
Oh, I forgot about that. Quad magnetism is generated by Q-stars.

grinner
08-24-2003, 10:13 PM
I don't watch it on Skiffy. Skiffy hasn't been on in my house since Bad Timing.
Bargaintuan
08-24-2003, 11:07 PM
Well, I watch extremely little on Sci-Fi except for Farscape reruns.
Bargaintuan
08-25-2003, 12:49 AM
Is it my turn to ask a trivia question?
By the way, I've got my Dalek's head pretty much modeled at this point, and I've started on the skirt. Now I know how Davros must have felt...

Bargaintuan
08-25-2003, 07:12 AM
OK. This one should be easy.
Q: How does the Doctor convince Skagra's spacecraft to obey his commands and how does this momentarily backfire?
who45
08-25-2003, 02:48 PM
A. He covinced the ship that if he (the Doctor) was dead then he could not be an enemy of Skagra's. The ship agreed. It backfired because the ship turned off the oxygen supply.
NQ. What did Eldrad's ring carry or contain?
grinner

NQ. What happens to the Doctor's companions when the Fast Return Switch is jammed?
who45
08-25-2003, 05:15 PM
A. Almost sent the Tardis to the beginning of time.
NQ. What does Ace find in the basement of Gabriel Chase?
grinner
