Frell Me Dead

Frell Me Dead Rules
Welcome to your new WatchFarscape.com Forum guidelines. I want to thank RustySlinky for providing the link to Tolkienonline.com's ToS. After reviewing them, I realized they'd make a great basis for our own guidelines and could help address the problems we have here. I have borrowed shamelessly from them. The institution of this set of guidelines is not meant to destroy your pleasure in the site or the company of your fellow Scapers. We believe that Frell Me Dead provides a wonderful function, allowing for Scapers to get to know one another, to share amusing stories, to discuss issues of the day, and to ask for help or support in trying times. That's what communities do. However, we want this to be a healthy, positive, informative and supportive community, and so we've decided to institute this set of guidelines to help ensure that healthy environment. We want this forum to continue to be a place of discussion and, yes, even disagreement. Disagreement is part of healthy, positive dialogue on any number of issues. However, users must be aware that not everybody will always agree with their point of view, and hostile or abusive posts will be altered or removed, and a pattern of hostile or abusive behavior may result in action being taken against users. TERMS OF SERVICE. By posting in this forum, you are agreeing to abide by the following guidelines, and failure to do so may result in posts being altered, deleted, or action being taken against the offending users. Those actions may include banning for a period of days, or permanently. These guidelines will be enforced. A user will receive warnings if their behavior is determined to be contrary to the guidelines set here, or just generally hostile or abusive; if the offending behavior continues, depending on the severity and type of offense, the user may be banned from the forums for a period of fourteen days or the banning may be permanent. Banned Topics The one topic that is banned throughout this community is the discussion of the personal/private lives of the creators, crew, or actors of Farscape. This has not been a big problem because Farscape fans are such a respectful community, but it needs to be said here, just to be made clear. These are topics that may not be discussed in the Off Topic Forum. They proved too divisive, too hot, or otherwise unmanageable and harmful to the promotion of a positive environment in this forum. For the time being the following topics will remain banned topics -- * Abortion * The War in Iraq * Personal/Private Lives of the cast, creators, or crew of Farscape * Partisan Political Discussion * Religion No new topics have been added to the OT Forum's banned list at this time, but we may expand the list at any time, for any reason. Forum Behavior Farscape fans are well known for being generous, supportive, funny, kind, creative and in all other ways, a fantastic community of people. That is a rare thing among online fandoms, and a high standard we've set for ourselves. Let's always strive to behave above and beyond these tremendous standards, and do right by our extended family members -- Farscape's creators, crew, and actors. And yes, this model of behavior applies to the mods and administrators of this board as well. Please respect your fellow board members, even if you find that you disagree with them on some issues. Avoid posting when angry or riled. Avoid posting thread titles that are, or may be viewed as, inflammatory. The following are guidelines of behavior for board member participation in this forum, however, we also reserve the right to react to behavior that we find to be hostile or abusive that may fall outside of the guidelines. Language -- While there are folks of all ages visiting this board, we do not expect adults to strip profanity from their language, however, we do ask that folks remember that they are in company of a wide variety of people and that some may find profanity offensive. Think before you post. Disagreement and Personal Attacks -- Personal attacks will not be tolerated. Strong disagreement on a subject, does not constitute a personal attack; if somebody responds strongly to your point of view, don't automatically take it as a personal attack and respond in kind. If a subject is getting under your skin, step away from it for a time, and come back when you feel calmer. Online discussion, in fact any discussion among groups of varied peoples, calls for a certain amount of thick skin. Don't take personally another user's comment on a subject. If there's a user whose posts you simply cannot read without becoming incensed, I advise the use of the "ignore" function. You will find that may help you have a calmer, friendlier board experience. Also, when involved in an intense discussion, avoid making blanket statements about groups of people; that is not a well thought out line of discussion, nor is it a open, reasoned way to address an issue, and will no doubt lead from discussion and disagreement, into vitriolic argument. However, personal attacks on other board members, above and beyond disagreement with their statement, will not be tolerated. Personal attacks may include, but are not limited to, hostile comments made about any person's gender, religion, politics, race, sexual preference, or general name-calling and insults against an individual user or group. There is zero tolerance and there will be zero warnings for users who issue threats of violence against other board members. Such threats will be removed and the offending user will be immediately banned. Board Disruption -- We will define board disruption as behavior that seeks to disrupt the environment of the board or the flow of conversation for the sole purpose of being inflammatory. This can include intentionally inflammatory posts, threads, or signatures. This will also include carrying personal fights, or issues between board members, from forum to forum or thread to thread. You have private messages for a reason. If you must bicker with a fellow board member, do it off board in email or PM. No more picking fights just for the fun of it. Use of images -- A great many people use avatars and special banners in their signatures. Some users want to post pictures or hotlink to them from their own flickr or personal photo albums. Often, these pictures are amusing, beautiful, and many other positive adjectives. Sometimes, they're not. Pictures used by users in posts, in their avatars, and/or in their signatures must be worksafe. There are a great variety of users visiting this website. Many people visiting do so from work, and others are minors. If you have a question about an image that you are using or would like to use, please contact an admin and we will let you know if we considering it appropriate for the board. Final Notes -- These are guidelines and they will be enforced. They can be best enforced by each individual reviewing these guidelines and trying to address their own behavior in the context of the above. Each of us want this to be a fun, supportive community, and it's up to each of us as individuals to make it so. Think before you post.
