10 years ago today....
10 years ago (around 6ish pacific time) came home from a lovely dinner with friends, tried like mad to get into chat. Woohoo...Ben, Froonie and Kemper were going to be in chat! A little excited, a little concerened. (Froonie was in chat every Sunday, don't remeber Kemper ever hoping on and Ben hadn't been on in awhile)
When I finally got in it was at the tail end of the announcement of the cancellation. At that time...they used to lock the controls until you received whatever the message was. Long pause, then the controls were unlocked upon Ben's "Open it up" request. Lots of messages of "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!", shock, disbelief, denial from the fans in chat. We were devastated. By early A.M. the next morning, SAVE FARSCAPE was set up (by some very incredible Scapers!) and the movement began. We fought, campaigned, hit every convention we could. The outcome was that some fans worked out financing for the miniseries. The miniseries would never have happened without those fans. Every time we watch Peacekeeper Wars we should remember that. If you want to read the transcript of the chat (Barbarella was moderator) you can go: http://www.farscapeworld.com/intervi....php?id=cancel Thanks again to Dani Moure for his wonderful site and for the meticulous documentation. This is not something we can or would erase. We remember it - the power of a community and the support of the actors, crew and the Henson company. We all wanted more Farscape. We got it.

Yeah I can't believe it's been 10 years since that chat and it was shocking really, just horrible but the community really came together and I will never forget it or the people I met and all the hard work that was put into saving the show. Scapers were and still are an amazing community.

Reading through that transcript, parts of it seemed familiar. Yet I can't recall if I was on that chat that night or not. (Perhaps I'd missed the beginning?) But I'll never forget being part of the effort to get more Farscape.
