New Rules for the Off Topic Forums

As you may have noticed, the original Off Topic Forums have been closed.

It is after much thought and months of consideration, we take this step. We have decided that the time has come to limit off topic discussions to focused areas. This particular forum will focus on television shows, movies, multimedia, and music. We have saved the threads for the original OT-TV/Movieville subforum and have already inserted them into this new forum. The other OT forum, Group Hug, will focus on fun, games, support, and generally adding positive items to our everyday lives. As usual, the TOS is still in effect for this entire website.

The threads and posts from the old off topic forum will be removed in one month's time. If you would like to keep threads in order to remember them or because they had something that you'd like to keep, make sure to either copy or print out the data. You will not have access to them after October 5th, 2006.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make changes here to streamline and improve your experience here.

I can't help but feel that this is the elimination of what was and is the heart and soul of this web site.

Much of the campaining and the camraderie that drew us together as a fan group in the first place and allowed us to achieve the milestones we did, was born in the OT forum. Many of those wonderful, whacky ideas then grew to maturity in the campaining areas. But this was their birthplace.

Yes some of the topics got a little out of hand at times but by and large the majority of them showed the fans who we are and were ... creative, inventive, determined, funny people who loved to get together and have fun and had a deep passion and commitment to Farscape... and more importantly to this web site.

By eliminating SaveFarscape history and removing the OTs you are denying the path we took that led us to ultimate victory. This was where we shed our tears, bolstered our flagging spirits, made lifelong friends, supported and encouraged each other, and allowed many of us to go on in the face of often incredible odds. This was where we laughed, cried and prayed for each other when there was no-one else that cared ... and now it's being wiped out as if it never existed.

FMD, as we oldies fondly refer to it, is far more than a web address. This was our home away from home when the world of Farscape was dim and dark and seemed hopeless.

If you must prune then please do so, you have in the past - web sites can get too big and unweildly but do not remove what is truly a part of us.

It is truly a sad day when an entire piece of Farscape history is eliminated by the click of a mouse.

Wow. That's...melodramatic at best. You're certainly free to feel that way, but I can tell you that if it was up to people like me, the OT's wouldn't exist at all. You can thank Jul for saving the parts that she has, specifically so you CAN have threads that ask for prayer or to celebrate new jobs/babies/marriages/positivethingsgalore/send cards and candy to eachother/etc.

That said, the changes are going to happen. Full stop. The question now is whether we'll have to take further steps to keep the trolling and baiting at bay than what is already in the works.

You have a right to mourn this place, what it was. Lord knows I did a year and a half ago when I allowed myself to (mostly) let go. I don't judge you for that. But it's time, for us at least, to start pulling it back, to start scaling it down, to start loosening what has honestly become, as a friend said recently, our albatross. Past time to put this all into perspective.

Jul is giving you the chance to mourn. Again, if it'd been up to me you probably would have woken up six months back to see the entire thing vanished. Completely.

It's been four years. Three of which were spent mostly fighting. We're done with that now. Those of us who are still friends - good friends, even - have moved on to other projects, other spaces, and yes, other shows. There's nothing wrong with that. At all. But we also need to be able to get rid of a lot of dead weight that's been hanging on for awhile. I do hope you can see it from our POV, but if you can't, that's ok. We're not changing our minds, though.

I have to agree with Selena
if memories are all we have...those I have...and you wipe away...with those attitudes...I wouldn't want to see those few that are left...keeping my sincere memories with such hostile intent... what a rude awakening when you turn on your computer and this thread pops up..I'd rathter move on.. those of us that remain friends will surly find one another again...How sad that it has come to this...truely....sad.... what happened to this website...Cold....
