Introducing the Where's My Riot Fund!!!

SaveFarscape.com and the Farscape Webmaster's Association present the "Where's My Riot" Fund

In the depths of Katrazi, John Crichton initiated his plan to get them all out of another potentially hopeless situation with three words "Where's My Riot?" Faced with the cancellation of Farscape, we're asking you, the fans of Farscape, the same thing.

The "Where's My Riot?" Fund, the heir of the Farscape: Beyond Hope Fund , has been created with this purpose in mind: the support of fan projects that market, advertise, and promote Farscape and SaveFarscape.com through activities such as commercials, advertisements, tabling at conventions, mail campaigns or rallies. The fund is handled by SaveFarscape.com and expenditures of the fund are approved by the Farscape Webmaster's Association based on the tenets of the SaveFarscape.com Marketing Plan. Spreadsheets from the fund will be posted to continually inform SaveFarscape.com members and donors about the fund's current activities and any questions about the fund should be directed to Jul, the handler of the fund at jul@watchfarscape.com.

Sounds good. Thanks for all the hard work guys.

The only thing I question is this line:

Quote:
the support of fan projects that market, advertise, and promote Farscape and SaveFarscape.com through activities such as commercials, advertisements, tabling at conventions, mail campaigns or rallies

It's only the thing about rallies. I thought that after what happened in October, it was pretty much decided that rallies were 1) extremely expensive, and 2) had very little if any impact on saving the show. Could you be a bit more specific about the kind of support we're talking about when it comes to rallies?

Jul--
"Where's my Riot" is a great allusion to the organized anarchy(!?!)that is Farscape and to this effort to implement Season 5. Thanks

I think rallies are more like get togethers with other Farscape fans, rather than the protests we had on October 5. However, I could be wrong.

Yes, we don't usually do rallies for all of the reasons that you posted, however, we don't want to say never, so we've posted everything possible that could happen. But, keep in mind that we carefully investigate all methods, especially those that are high profile and cost-effective, to make the best use of the monies you are entrusting to us.

I really enjoyed the rally I went to on October 5th. Not because it actually made a whole lot of difference (in London, far from the decision makers, I suppose it couldn't have done) but it was a fun thing to do and I enjoyed meeting up with other Scapers.

As for the expense, well, if it is going to turn out to be expensive, I absolutely agree that the money would be better spent on commercials or other forms of promotion.

The rally I went to I don't think was expensive at all, really. I mean, apart from getting there, and we all paid our own way. (I ended up taking three trains and a coach and going via Bath and Oxford, but it was CHEAP, so inconvenience was not a consideration! :p)

I guess I'm just saying, yeah, rallies aren't that effective and shouldn't be heavily subsidised or sponsored by the fund, unless there's a strong reason, because it would make more of an impact being used another way. I just wanted to step up in defence of them as *fun* activities that needn't be expensive.

Of course, if they're not expensive, then there's another reason the fund doesn't need to err...fund them. *g*

Either way, I have to agree. The new title kicks much ass. I love it.

And I'm keeping my fingers double-crossed that by May I'll be able to send you some more cash. (Come on student loan...stretch a little further, you know you love me...) It put an absurd little smile on my face for days last time I did.

Cariad,
Scape'

Just for clarification, the Beyond Hope fund is now defunct and any monies donated to the cause will go to the Where's My Riot fund?
