And hey, a number of people (including David Franklin and the writers) have commented on the resemblance to the Smithers/Mr. Burns relationship ...

IMHO, you could come up with a plausible hypothesis either way.

Historically, some very militarized societies have been extremely hostile to homosexuality, but others have been completely accepting of it.

The ancient Spartans had a fairly PK-like society - everything organized around the military, children removed from their families and raised in training camps, a system that despised the "weak" and "inferior" and other countries, etc. But they were completely accepting of same-sex relationships (and in fact thought that soldiers would fight better if they were fighting alongside their lovers).

But for many fascist societies, racism and xenophobia have gone hand-in-hand with homophobia.

And some have had stages of both - for example, the Nazis initially had one prominent leader (Ernst Rohm) who was known to be gay, but subsequently began horrific persecution of gay men (many of whom died in the Nazi concentration camps).

(Sorry if this is taking the topic into too serious areas ...)

With the PKs, you could argue that since they've completely separated "breeding" from "recreation", they really wouldn't care much if you recreated with someone of the same sex or the opposite sex.

Or you could argue that they'd be as prejudiced about it as they are about everything else.

But there really haven't been any indications either way in the show .

And of course, even in extremely homophobic societies, you get people who succeed by staying firmly in the closet.

So the field is completely open for anyone who wants to speculate .

I thought so. Braca was always very dedicated to Scorpuis, but I felt Scorpy was more attracted to John. In What Was Lost John calls Braca "Smithers", which plays on The Simpsons tale of unrequited gay love. Mr Burns is this evil guy and his loyal lacky Smithers is hopelessly in love with Burns, but never had the courage to say anything. Again in We're so Screwed Braca comes to Scorpys rescue and John snarks, "Feel the love Mr Burns" so I would say the writers were somewhat aware of the theme they were playing with.

And of course Scorpuis does choose to kiss Braca on their reunion as Braca's reward for loyal service. And it's implied that Braca is jealous of Sikozu when she has Scorpy sex. I ship Scorpuis/Sikozu really. But I love when Braca gives Scorpy the puppy dog eyes, it would have been cool if there had been a bit of a love triangle in season 5. Threesome!

We concluded that Americans are a bunch of puritans and they don't know what they miss, in brief, more sex, more sado-maso scenes and less bigotry and the American series would be a lot better!

I think Braca is bisexual, as long as he is dominated, he's happy, but like a good adept in bdsm, he doesn't mind shifting roles.

Plus - waiting for mid-season 4 to get outraged? What show did they think they were watching all this time?

I mean, it's not like Farscape is the most sexually conservative show around. By that point, you'd already had Dominatrix Rygel and camp D'Argo in WGFA, Staanz, Scorpy-Natira sex, Crichton in fishnets, a Nebari androgyne, "Are you boys a couple?", everyone in black leather (except background extras in fetish gear),Grayza's boob sweat, and Rygel getting laid (the last of which should surely be enough to push anyone's boundaries).

And after all that, they freak about a little kiss on the forehead?

Actually I heard Scorpy was killing Sikozou. So... Sikozou's dead and Braca is still around.

I can't beleive they got a whole bunch of letters!!! I know for a Star Trek DS9 episode where Dax kisses a past wife they got a lot of calls too. "you're ruining my children!!!" One program employee asked if watching some one get shot with a Phaser was ruining this persons kids and they said 'no'.
So I'm kinda not surpised by the stupidity of some people. I know one person looks at it as a mafia kiss.
