I know that www.hollywoodiscalling.com was mentioned earlier here (I searched for it), but at the time there was no one Farscape-related involved.
I just checked the site, and for $19.95 you can now get Virgina Hey to call you. For $29.95, the message can be personalized. Pretty freaky. I wonder if they can get the rest of the gang to do it, too? GB |

I think that is embarrasing. Both for the 'celebrity' and for the person paying for a phone message.
Makes me sad for Virginia Hey. |

Sad.
Good actress is left to this, while we are left with no talent nubile hacks because everyone assumes an older woman isn't worth looking at? GRRRR! |

Actually...
Actually, I don't think that she is necessarily doing it for the money. It's not a lot, after all.
Sean Astin, of Lord of the Rings fame, has (according to an interview I saw) done it occassionally, and he donates all his proceeds to charity. He's just doing it for the fun of it. It's very possible that Virginia Hey is mostly doing it for the fun factor. GB |

I agree with GeneralBraca. Virginia Hey is known to be extremely dedicated to her fans. She is probably just trying to provide another avenue of personal contact with them. Besides, I'm willing to bet she makes plenty of money on the convention circuit.

Hey, if I were famous, I'd be glad to do it.

Ermmm.... soooo... is anyone going to give it a try? I'd love to hear how it turns out.
It seems like a good gift for a Farscape fan, especially if you get a custom message (i.e. have her call in character, maybe? Lani Tupu, with his Pilot voice, might be a natural for this medium...) I would, except that I don't really have friends who are into Farscape enough for it to mean much. It also seems like (according to the FAQ on their site) it's more likely than anything unless you sit by your phone all the time for the next week the celebrity that calls you will probably wind up leaving a message on your voicemail or answering machine. You guys do realize that the call is merely a recorded message? It's not like she is going to call everyone. She records a message to a tape and u can order that message to your phone. You can't talk to them or anything, just listen the message.

I admit I thought that as well. And, in fact, if they get your voicemail, it's definitely recorded.
![]() But if you answer the phone yourself.... Well, I looked around online to try to find a first person account of someone who ordered the service, but so far have not. But I did find two articles which seem to indicate that these are actually live calls, and that some of the celebrities (Fred Berry, RIP, is mentioned in particular) may actually chat with you if they feel so inclined. Here's the two relevant articles I found: http://pam_oconnell.tripod.com/92503.txt http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=vjm0bvhnoullec%40corp.supernews.com&oe =UTF-8&output=gplain |

Small "gauss" person.

Sounds kinda cool to me.........for rather a small price. Just think you stand in line at a con...........and barely get to say two words to the "talent". At least with this, you might get to say something meaningful.
