Stress Cards

My monthly rant:

In certain areas of army boot camp (basically those camps where the would be soldier will not be going into infantry afterwards) the new recruits are given stress cards. If at any point they feel that the Drill Sgt is yelling too much, they can hold up there stess card for up to an hour of "quiet time".
This has been going on for a couple of years, And when these soldiers come out to the real world, they dis respect ranks, blow off there orders and tend to be the bottom of the barrel.
What are these poeple thinking. Stress cards...... I wonder if the enemy will give us an hour of quiet time if we hold up one of these cards?
And it seems that this teaches the recruit that no matter who tels him to do something, he/she can just blow it off and claim "stress". Have I been away from the civillian side to long. Have civillian employers now adopted the crock of dren. How many of you out there in civillian employment can get a reprieve from deadlines by telling your boss your "stressed".

WTF!!?? STRESS CARDS!? OMG, are you kidding? It sure isn't the military my dad and grandfather were in. I sure hope our enemies don't learn of this new practice. How embarrassing.....

Hypersensitivity making the world safe for our enemies one soldier at a time. First time a soldier raised one of those cards I'd send him/her to Leavenworth for 10 years, the dishonorably discharge them. Soldiers don't have rights dammit, they are US Government property, and as such do not have the capacity to feel "stressed". Damn pansies, I feel like re-enlisting going thru boot camp just to see one of these daisies hold up thier precious little cards, cause I'd show em stress with extreme prejudice.

You are correct Johnsgirl727, this is extremely embarassing.

Ha! Stress cards! They sure didn't have those when I was in Basic (started March '00.) Drill Sergeants were also shoving people, tripping them, knocking them down onto pavement, even though it was technically against the "rules." No actual punching or kicking. The worst I saw was on kid get grabbed by the back of the neck and thrown face first onto the ground (broke his nose).....that and the yotz that stuck his leg out and tripped me when I was carrying my 80lb bag to the shakedown (at least I landed on the dufflebag instead of it on me.) I wasn't allowed to go see the meds when I dislocated my shoulder, and I wasn't allowed out of PT for that either. And we had it easy when I was in compared to what trainees went through 20 years ago.

You learn to deal, because anything they put you through is childsplay compared to what the enemy would put you through. And if you keep it in perspective, Drill Sergeants are some of the funniest people on the planet. I had a harder time trying not to laugh in formation when they started in on someone than anything else. Great insults!

Privates in training were whiney then. I can't imagine what they're like now. Stress cards, my eema. What crap.

Frell stress cards. Army is supposed to break you down and then reassemble to its needs.
