Harsh Realm and Futurama 4 on DVD tomorrow!

SPACE aired the complete series of Harsh Realm a few years back. Yet another fine program killed in it's infancy by Faux...

Speaking of which, Futurama volume 4 is out tomorrow too!

As I remember, Harsh Realm was a pretty good show that Fox killed prematurely as you said. If only they'd let their new shows come into their own maybe they'd have a hit on their hands, but unfortunately they're quick to lower the ax. Firefly seems to ring a bell...
I think i'll buy Harsh Realm on dvd, it's not much and it's a good show, though only 9 eps long

The final episode was awesome!

For those of you watching it for the first time, it's gonna be a treat!

I personally didn't really care for Harsh Realm myself.

Fox did NOT kill Harsh Realm. The artist and the writer of the comic book it was based on let Carter et. al. make the show. The artist and the writer then proceeded to get into an argument with Fox that required the Courts to intervene. The pair backed out of the deal with Fox and demanded more money. Rather than give in to the demands, Fox cancelled the show.

ah well, i guess i'm letting my dislike of fox get in the way. I keep remembering firefly and it seems like they've done that to a lot of shows. They did cancel Harsh Realm after 3 episodes and ran the rest on fx...

I got it, and it's bellisimo

Ooooh, ooooh - My 'Harsh Realm' set arrived in the mail today, and the big surprise is that it's LETTERBOXED, even though the outside of the box says FULL-FRAME.

So that's two more reasons to pick it up - the other being, that if it does well, they'll finally release 'Space:Above and Beyond' on DVD. WS, too, please oh please...

EDITED TO ADD:
Quote:
from http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/siterevi...ReleaseID=3666

Though the series originally aired in full frame (1.33:1), these episodes are presented in anamorphic widescreen (1.78:1). Strangely enough the box lists the specs as being 1.33:1, but I assure you this is wrong. The show is shot beautifully, with colorful scenes inside Santiago City, and dark, dingy holes outside of it. Fox has done a nice job with the transfer; dust is almost nonexistent, and there are very few grainy scenes. The show looks great.

Space: Above and Beyond - Release tied to sales of other shows?

The Rumor Mill at The Digital Bits website is reporting that 'Space: Above and Beyond' is under consideraton for DVD release, based on how well sales of DVD sets sell for shows like 'Millennium' and 'Harsh Realm', both planned for release later in 2004.

We mentioned the possibility of a 'Space: Above and Beyond' DVD release about a month ago, but now The Digital Bits is saying that the opportunity is tied to results from other releases. Nothing further was detailed, but we wanted to make fans aware of it.

I did too. It was refreshing at the time, probably still would be. A shame some whiny little comic book rodent (yeah, I'm just being evil) had to ruin it all. =/

I'm definitely going to pick it up when I get paid next. And I wouldn't let myself get away with not buying S:AB if/when it comes out. *crosses fingers*

Interestingly, I just finished watching the 'Behind the Scenes' feature on the Harsh Realm disks and the comic book lawsuit didn't come up at all: Carter and all of his production staff lay the blame almost exclusively on the ratings and the failure of the show to 'find an audience'.

No Hudnall and the other guy - from Chris Carter's mouth to my ears. The issue just didn't come up, but perhaps there were legal issues that prohibited them from broaching the topic.

There was a gag order placed upon both sides after the lawsuit.

Saw HR at Costco for $27.95 yesterday. Unfortunately, I'd just ordered it from DDD the day before.
