There were also telegrams to Scifi and Henson, and flowers to Bonnie Hammer, Tom Vitale, etc. A single fan has reported spending 3x$48.10 = $144.30 on flowers and (6 X 14.99 = 74.95) + 15.46 = $$90.51 on telegrams that week. This has to be multiplied by an unknown large number of others who sent flowers and telegrams. So many telegrams were sent to Scifi that week that telegrams to that address were blocked.

The remaining proceeds of sales were donated to FWA after purchasing 6 season 1 DVD sets for local libraries, plus 1 season 1 DVD set for a military unit in Iraq in December 2005.

Here's a question, though. I have tried to be conservative in adding up costs. For instance, I always take the lower number when there is a range of estimates. I haven't wanted to take a chance of double counting what has been spent, so when I add up the total spent, I have been only adding the COST of the projects used to raise money like the cookbooks or the calendars--that is, I have been assuming that the money raised (the donations minus the cost) will appear in the costs of other projects where the money was sent after being raised by the initial projects. But here is a case where it isn't--I don't have the cookbook covers as a separate project. I have a list of where the money then went for the calendars, but not for the cookbooks. (and I still don't know what might be double counting on that calendar proceeds list, either.) Maybe I should be counting the total donations raised by those kinds of projects instead of just the production costs? Comments? Help?

We can't track through the net donations to the cookbook project to any particular project - they went into that big FWA fund and were disbursed from there as needed. So you are correct that you can't count the net donations by themselves without double counting (since they should show up in another project somewhere).

You *can* count the expenses of the cookbook project as donations to the campaign consumed by the cookbook project in order to raise funds for other projects - they won't get counted any other way (other than the total donations to the FWA column).

For the cookbook covers from CafePress. I believe I just included the net check from CafePress and not the "total sales". So if the poster cost $15 and we got $2 from that, I only counted the $2. And that total number went into the calculation above for the cookbook (part II) project - I think. It was somewhere around $100 anyway, so not exactly worth breaking out.

Aside from the cookbook project, I can't think of any others offhand that led to a separate product like the cover posters. So, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Those extra dollars spent on the posters weren't really for promoting FS anyway, and from what akimbo says, the $2 over cost from each seems to have been accounted for.
