Exclamation A Welcome Basket for Ben

BEN'S BASKET O' LOVE

Earlier, people agreed that it would be a good idea to send a gift
basket out to Ben, so this is the second shot at that.*
This time around Detroit Scapers will be organizing it, but it will be a gift from
everyone. Anyone please feel free to make any sort of suggestions,
nothing in set in stone.

We thought that it would we send a Welcome Basket just to Ben that will
contain a bunch of stuff that Ben likes:

- One (at least) 36ct box of Clark bars
- One (at least) 36ct box of Caramellos
- Diet Moutain Dew (If we can figure out a good way to send this.)
- A Detroit Scapers T-shirt (will be paid for by the Detroit Scapers)
- Original Tim Tams

Spocks2 is going to be recieving the goodies and putting it together in the basket and add in the Diet Moutain Dew and other local goodies

With a message along the lines of: "Hope you have a wonderful time on the set and good luck -
love your fans at www.watchfarscape.com and www.detroitscapers.com".

The basket will be homeassembled, which shouldn't be a problem since we'll be sending stuff that's packaged.

As for the sending just to Ben or sending to the whole cast thing, I think
it'll be a lot easier just to send to Ben, and with all the goodies we're
sending him, and Ben being the great guy that his is, I'm sure that he'll
be sharing.

Again, this is completely open to suggestion, but that's what we
discussed as of right now.

If you can't use paypal, please PM Janey_13 and she'll let you know how you can donate.

Deadlines:

We'll stop at $300 for monetary donations, and the deadline for any other snail mail donations will be next Wednesday. We'll put it together the following weekend and ship it off the next Monday if everything goes as planned. A good chunk of that money will go towards shipping, the rest for goodies and supplies.

If anyone is sending check or money order, let us know how much when you send it so that we can add that to the total. Don't want to end up with more money than we can spend.

PM Janey_13 for her address if you're going to send something snail mail.

RUNNING TOTAL: $300

WE MADE IT! My, oh, my....scapers rock MUCHLY!

*translated for those who are slow: The idea of a gift basket wasn't my idea nor did I EVER claim it was my idea, so back up off me. Just acting on this: "If anyone wishes to do this please let us know where to send the cash." which I suppose I mistakenly assumed was posted in sincerity. My bad.

Ayu, there is a really nice basket store near me...if you guys have trouble finding one you like, I could pick one up and ship it to you. They have really good prices, too. It's the store I used when we took the basket to the NYC Henson office.

That's the only thing I have right now. Give me time to think more.

Thanks, Jacqui!

I added in the paypal info, Janey's handling that.

Not certain how much that we'll need yet.

Wild shot, but since I see candy up there.... my friend works for a German chocolate factory and sent me 10 pounds of chocolate for Xmas. I still have like 7 pounds left.... would you guys like to include some in Ben's basket?

hw - Of course, my dear. ETA: How confident are you about talking on the phone?

AFD just brought up something to me - shipping food across the Canadian border. I did I quick search, and I think it's only a deal if you're sending fruits and plants, in which case you must declare it to customs, but otherwise isn't a problem*. Is this assumption correct?

*Unless of course some greedy postal workers break in and eat the chocolate, like what apparently happened to Kurt's valentines last year

Answering my own question... http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/.../canadae.shtml

Noticed the cute little graphic that says candies are ok*!

*Unless they're freaky candies that contain meat products

hw - I wants to talk to you, but I can't get YIM to connect on my mom's computer

Can I ask how are we going to get it to him? Is it going to be sent/hand delivered to the set? You may want to email the place and get a contact there to make sure it gets to him and they are expecting it?

You know, Ben is like 3,000 of the members here at FMD, so I'm pretty sure he knows he's getting it by now. In fact, if I hadn't met AyuRocks at a coupla cons, I'd be suspicious that *she's* Ben...

Seriously, that German chocolate sounds like a great idea. And wasn't there an Australian candy that he was gaga over? Maybe someone could find that at some specialty store.

Shot some $$ your way. In spite of what hw says, you guys rock the house.

What a fantastic idea. I wish I'd thought of it! Where does one send a donation - non monetary?
