Is the total amount of money spent on this campaign being sent out with the press releases? With the ratings not being what we expected, it seems that these numbers would make the networks and advertisers drool. How much have we spent in the last 4+ months fighting to save Farscape? It seems like we have spent a lot in a short amount of time. Maybe this is the reason why we have not heard a definite "no" from UPN yet and why KFC has pledged their support. Ok that might be a stretch but I think this is one of the numbers we should be focusing on now.

I agree with Javora. Surely this campaign shows how we are willing to put our money where out mouth is, and in the end it's not figures that matter - it's good hard cash.

A couple of points..
Pisher-the mag is on sale generally at newstands (and internationally even) in NYC and LA (as has been said)and as it's on the cover and out for a week it will get eyeballs that way.. I'm in the Uk and even *we* know what Variety magazine is..
How many times has anyone seen an advert put on a magazine cover??? It doesn't happen here in the Uk.. As for cost..I've checked the variety website and it's something like $50,000.00+ plus!

Good lord. Well then in answer to Javora's question, I think we could safely estimate that the campaign as a whole has raised well over $125,000. And we did mention that we'd raised a significant sum in one of our recent press releases. Oh and weekly Variety is generally available at newsstands across the country. Barnes & Noble and Borders both usually carry it. I mean, I'm in Denver right now and I can get it and I wouldn't say Denver's really a hotbed for the entertainment industry anymore.

I think the important point here is how much money WE are willing to spend to keep the show going. Think about how many KFC buckets of chicken we could've bought with that money. Or HP printers, or whoppers...
The advertisers should be made very aware of exactly what sort of fan base we truly are. They are the ones spending their advertising dollars with Sci-Fi. If the series is not picked up again, we could spend our money to launch a campaign to boycott Sci-Fi and the USA Network or try to woo another network. Again, hopefully someone is keeping a ledger of money spent. This could be sent to advertisers as a petition or something similar saying something like "FarScape fans have spent over $xxxx to keep their show on the air. This represents a very desirable demographic....etc etc". Hobes http://www.thewendels.com (oops. I reckon great minds think alike. I'll leave it up anyway for solidarity purposes...) Frell, with what we've done so far we could launch a campaign to take over the US!

OH MY FRELLING GOD!!!
That's some serious Dren! Skiffy has GOT to feel like they've been kicked in the Mebox (not sure how to spell that one!) I Hope those anonymous cats are lurking around these boards...I certainly will respect their wishes, but...I really would like to shake their hands. That is tremendously amazing. This will be seen by EVERYONE outside (and within) Skiffy we've been shopping Farscape to. *Mirth does the cabbage patch* |

what we can do w/this.....
I don't know if anyone's thought of this yet, but we HAVE to get the word to cast/crew & DK about this...... (not that DK wouldn't find out eventually, but i thought maybe he'd like to hear this from someone who 'in' on this before it comes to the stands). or did i miss something and it's already on the stands?
ranger1 p.s. it just seems to me that this is probably the single biggest thing, cost-wise and possibly circulation wise that has happened to this campaign! |

It's been taken care of...
I told Ricky in IRC a few days back and I've also informed Ben and asked him in turn to pass it onto DK. Thought it only fair to give them the heads up first..

It's a gorgeous cover!...
I like the whole "fuzzy" earth thing against the backdrop of black space. (I have a poster that resembles that).
I like the listing of "praise" from various sources too. Thank you to the person/people who placed it |

They are seen by TBTB in the entertainment industry. Advertisers, licensors, producers. The company I work for is a licencee for some movies. We can see how the property is promoted, which makes our licenced items attractive to the corporate buyers.
Having the fans do the advertising is really backward, but it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the FarScape property is viable. We're making history here. |
